Since 1992 this is the list of SB winning QB's....there is a pattern: Troy Aikman, Aikman, Steve Young, Aikman, Brett Favre, John Elway, Elway, Kurt Warner, Trent Dilfer, Tom Brady, Brad Johnson, Brady, Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Roethlisberger, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and this year either Brady or Eli Manning again. Every one of those guys are either Hall of Famers or borderline HOF's except Johnson and Dilfer and Johnson was a much better QB than Alex Smith could ever hope to be.
The NFL is a QB driven league now and the teams with the best QB's compete for the Lombardi every year. The rules are DRASTICALLY different now than when Trent Dilfer QB'd that Ravens team and the scales tilt more towards offenses every year. It is no coincidence that 10 QB's threw for more than 4,000 yards this year and 3 for over 5,000 yards. In 2003, for example, there were 2 QB's who broke the 4,000 yard mark.
