More oil drilling may well help in the short term. No doubt. And that may be necessary. To me, though, that is almost tangential to the real challenge, which is the 50, or even 100, year energy plan. Also, I do have real concerns about the effect of all this fossil fuel fun on the environment. We need to breathe and stuff.
I love this country too. I actually had a serious pull at one point in my life to relocate out of the country, and I refused to do so permanently, at all costs. I do not forget that.
I believe that strong decisionmaking at the national level is important to what this country is. Nothing is automatic. Nothing can be taken for granted. We have to stay vigilant.
That said, the choice of Palin for VP on the Republican ticket is freaking me out.
Ponder this story about Palin's handling of her latest pregnancy. Whether she's the one who actually gave birth, or whether it was her teenage daughter, it's a Bizarre story, either way. Either I cringe at what Palin has done to her daughter and grandson, to save face (and, incidentally, I personally don't think Palin gave birth in April), or I think it is just insane and irresponsible how she handled the birth of a downs syndrome child at age 44. So, either way ...
Just freakin cooky.
I'm starting to think Sarah Palin will not be on the ticket come November.
I'm wondering who McCain will pick next.
