This is a list for the history of sports. Not just recently. So, yes, I would include that. They have played each other 11 times in the Finals. No one else comes close to that.

Today, probably NYY/redsox... not sure

but nobody here would know this because it's 20 yrs ago and it's hockey.. but by far, the best rivalry in sports history was Montreal canadiens/Quebec Nordiques.. 2 nhl teams that were french teams from same province and boy, was it brutal. i have never seen anything like this til today. the hate was so bad, you coudlnt believe it. bench clearing brawls almost every game.. After every game, no matter who won, there'd be brawls in bars with nordiques/habs fans.. there were deaths, injuries, arrests.. some people still doing jail time from this..

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH EACH CITY HATED EACH OTHER. if a guy walked downtown mtl with a nordique jersey, he was better off dead, cause they hurt him badly.

if you want to see a typical game.. you will really enjoy this.. it ended a career of a hockey player with a sucker punch.. it doesn't get better than this..

at the 3:45 mark.. a player's career ends on a sucker punch..

No, but there are things we call radio and television here that give us amble coverage of it. Not to mention newspapers. If you are going to try and refer to some big soccer rivalry, than maybe you haven't heard, but its not big here.

There have been multiple features on India-Pakistan on ESPN and ESPN.com. It's not as if you need to stretch very far.

The Apple Cup is much bigger than a cross coast NBA rivalry that only is a rivalry when the teams are both very good. Flash back 5 years. Did anyone in LA or Boston really care when the Lakers played the Celtics? Hell, people in LA cared much more about playing the Kings or Blazers or whoever. Go back to any time in the last 30 years and try to find a time when fans of UW or Wazzu didn't think the Apple Cup was a major rivalry.
