    I do.

I live with my parents. I work part time 18 hours a week at KIIS FM for $10 an hour. $160 a week after taxes, thrilling.

I run my website and work at a radio station in hopes of eventually getting into sports broadcasting someday... but I know the odds of this happening are very slim.

I have no backup plan after this. I don't have any interests really, other then sports, horses, gambling, nothing I could make a career out of. I feel like I'm never going to make real money doing anything... I can't see myself doing anything.

Sorry... just needed to vent. Is this some sort of a phase most young adults go through, or am I really destined to be useless?

For sure... what sucks is that unlike most problems which can be solved with critical thinking, it seems the more I think about my future, the foggier it becomes.

you just need the right kind of motivation.
Just like JJ. Nobody in thier right mind would do half the shit he;s done lately, but the thought of him getting poontang gives him the courage to do anything.

Not just the US but all the countries. It's what liberates you from the system. There is not such thing as clean money, once you dedicate your life to it you lose your childhood purity.

That is perfectly stated. I had a job that I was working 40 hrs a week, $13 an hour, due for regular pay bumps, they loved me there and I was a shoo-in to become manager in a few months... but I absolutely hated it. It was easy money, it was my ticket out, but I hated it and I hated what it did to me, so I quit, because I didn't want to lose my "purity".

Now here I am, still "pure", still following my pipedream and spending hours upon hours of my free time on a website that gets like 4 hits a day... completely broke and discouraged.

I don't want to sell out, but I wonder how long I can hold out?

You need to stand on your own two feet, luckily you have family to support you. You need to lose those clutches though, you need to hustle your way out man. Don't be afraid to tackle anything, you got to get this in your mind set. Don't just take it, remember is a war you're a soldier, either you take the orders or you give them. I don't come from a great background, I didn't had higher education, but I had to do what I had to do and at 20 I was in Liberia with around $20 dollars to my name, in a strange land with no one around. I've done bad things and I've try to do good things, but the thing is I did them. I wasn't static, sometimes you just got to put the pen down and make it action time.

I know this might be to broad and might not be something specific to help you, but the important thing is take action, Cuban poet Jose Marti said 'words without action means nothing'. Don't be afraid to be turn down, take every opportunity you can get in whatever that is, don't shy off into not doing something. Usc I think you will be happy with your choice of quitting even if they were good to you and the pay was decent. If you love your job you never work a day in your life.

Well gambling is just dumb, unless you devote your life and soul to it, you're not going to be a winner, well possibly a winner, but you're not going to make enough to live off of.

                                            I see 3 phases.

                                            1. You either make your own living because you're really smart, this includes gamblers, small business owners, and other self employed people.

                                            2. Then you have other smart people, who all go to college and attempt to get degrees and high paying jobs.

                                            3. Now here is your people who have no college and are not self employed, perhaps this phase of people work decent jobs, shitty jobs, or really good jobs that got handed down to them (lucky)

No. I was married expecting my first son and owned a townhouse. on the flip side my 23 year old son is unemployed, lives with mommy and daddy and is about to have his car repo'ed. Loser.

                                                          GG,
I've heard that saying and I'm not so sure...

I love my job but there are days when it IS work. Seeing 100 flu patients in a day. Having to tell a patient that they have terminal cancer. Seeing the abuse of the system by Medicaid patients. I could go on...

I DO love my job. I love the people I work with, but there are days when it IS WORK.

On all the Minneapolis-St.Paul radio and tv stations they advertise for kids to work for free as interns,at least you are getting paid.Look at how it works in Washington where women are interns and have to buy their own knee pads.Well, their parents are rich and it's a status symbol for the kids to work for free for politicians. But then on the flip side, you have a woman who's working 18 hours a week for Edwards on his website and she's making hundred's of grand a year with a big payday in sight.

Most people in radio make squat. Some are really talented but they never seem to make it to the top for some reason. We have a couple guys up here in the middle of nowhere that are funnier than the big market guys.

Listen to the Bill Anderson song called Country DJ and one by Stonewall Jackson called BJ the DJ and it will sound a little like what you are up against.

It should be easy for a guy like you to make it in the USA.Just find a radio station that's owned by a good looking rich woman and go into her office and show some plumbers crack, she will have your baby and in a couple years you will be married to her, than divorced, and then you get alimony and half her assets. It works that way for women who say they have it so much rougher than men.hehe!
