The Jets signed a bunch of vets this offseason. They are stacked on both offensive & defensive line. They were an 8-8 calibre team without Favre. Guessing how much extra Favre is worth, coming into a new system late, new team, new city, etc is a big guessing game. Even so, I'd never bet against Favre with the odds against him.

Regarding the postmortem analysis of Favre versus Pennington: Before the season, I'd have rated Favre ahead of Pennington for 2008. But after seeing how the season has gone, I'd have them close to equal at this point. Basically, I'll tie my Favre versus Pennington in 2008 opinion to the game coming up this weekend. Obviously the Jets thought Favre was a major upgrade over Pennington before the 2008 season. I wonder how much they regret that decision now, if at all.
