I disagree. I think this is something the state sees as a great opportunity for tax revenue and a logical step to take since wagering is allowed at horse tracks.

It's needed to save Atlantic City Casinos. Period. They are being squeezed by PA and Delaware.

Owning a federal judge? This isnt the sopranos, nobody owns a fed judge. It doesn't matter how much money any entity has, the federal courts rule independently. This bill has too much backing among NJ residents and politicians. It will go through. Mark my words.

I dont think so at all, the taxes are hell it seems but the times I have been there, I thought there were alot of beautiful places in the state. The problem I see with this is Atlantic City and how its run. The casinos were supposed to change everything and they are like little fortified castles , you rarely go anywhere else.
Are people going to really travel to Atlantic city to gamble and are sportsbooks in the casino and racetracks going to really bring in enough revenue to really improve things. Vegas has sportsbooks but they really arent really crucial to most of the casinos revenues most of the year compared to the nightclubs and attractions and the pits. I have trouble even getting cocktail waitresses over at the sportsbook half the time. William Hill and Cantor may have changed things, i dont know .
Maybe Sbr tv can get an interview with I nelson rose on the jersey vote, he had some ideas on time frame for implementation.
I. Nelson Rose, considered a national authority on gambling law, said the legal battle could take some time.
"First, Sen. Lesniak has to revive, and then win, his federal lawsuit," said Rose, a professor at Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, Calif. "Then, there will be an appeal.
"In Delaware, the state could not get the courts to let it begin while its sports-betting case was up on appeal. There should be no questions in dispute [regarding New Jersey], so this all should be resolved relatively quickly. But quickly, when it comes to courts, is still more than a year, more likely two or three."

<----- NJ over offshore sports books !!
Back in the Day, I'd say JJ was right, but Atlantic City is being squeezed by new gaming rights given to Pennsylvania and Delaware which is taking revenue from the state
The state is hurting for tax revenue (like every other state) and they know billions are being sent offshore for gambling purposes now.
In a very short span of time this things going to be up and running. I do forsee problems with the NFL, but that's fine my gambling hobby would survive just fine without the NFL

Jersey has high taxes for a reason, its the best state to live in period, and is only getting better, all the philly and new york people migrate here, cause its nicer then those dumps. And our beaches are the best around, like i said, once pot is legal it will be paradise.

Here we go with the bullshit. This thread is about the legalization of sports betting, not a pissing contest over nj and whatever shitty state you're from, so save it.

Not overly concerned, you know how it is in jersey, pleny of locals at ones disposal. I'll wait till they get it implemented in the casinos and continue with the current status quo.

Whens the last time you've been there, 20 years ago?? Ever??
They have cleaned so much up over the years (90's) , its really nice now a days and has been for a while
NJ gets so much shit from everyone but it's one of the better states to live in......99% of the people from here love it and thats all that matters
Very high amount of wealthy/ successful people first of all.....nice beaches that attract tons of tourists.....great location for NYC, Philly, Washington DC, close drive to PA ski areas.....Atlantic City casinos are a fun time which a lot of states don't have, Plenty of local pro sports teams to catch a game for all sports, etc

Last time i was in Jersey was 2 years ago.. Glad you know so much about me.. Guess you didn't realize that MY ENTIRE family is from Jersey and most of them still live there.. .I have family from Jersey city .. to Orange.. to Scotch Plains, all the way down to Ocean City ... Never been to Cape May.. i am sure it's nice..
Yes i agree great location to Philly and Dc, and NYC... if you care to go to those places..
Yeah you guys have great local sports teams - The New Jersey Giants, The New Jersey Jets, The New Jersey Nets...
These are all great New Jersey Professional Sport Teams.. all of which represent the great state of New Jersey Proudly.. I even heard that The Nets are refusing to go to Horrible Brooklyn because they MUCH RATHER PREFER TO STAY IN JERSEY...
I never Understood why my parents ran from jersey 30+ years ago.. and moved to Florida...
