I prefer to carry a knife instead. Scares the shit out of people when they see a 6'-2" 230 lb man built like a tank launching at them with a knife.

Right now I am at my Aunt's house, who only lives 10 minutes away. Next to the laptop that I am on right now is a colt combat commander and 4 wilson combat clips (not cheap). Hours ago, I received a call from her crying. She is a nurse practitioner who works the night shift (7pm-7am). After getting home, she was watching television from her couch in her basement, when she saw a man peering through her basement door, scanning for loot and whatnot. According to her, they made eye contact, she yelled at him, and he actually tried to get her to open the basement door. She wasn't near her cell, but called 911 from her landline phone (old one with chord), which if you have ever made a 911 call, it sure feels better having a piece next to you than wading through the process of relaying info, then being transfered, then relaying info again, and then waiting around. So yah, if you don't carry a piece, your a sitting duck. If you don't have a gun in your house for self-protection, I highly recommend buying a shotgun (cheap, effective, and the shot is less likely to penetrate your walls and go into your neighbor's home). Besides my combat commander (.45; I have 2), I also have a sig. p229 in the 9mm (wife carries it), 3 shotguns, an AR15 (wouldn't prefer to use in a self-protection situation). So you better get with the program and get a piece, or two.

It is one thing to have a gun. Completely different thing to actually shoot someone with one. Most people have no idea what they are doing with a gun and end up getting false tough guy mentality.

According to the cops, there was another break-in about an hour prior to their receiving my aunt's call. Supposedly, they broke in, grabbed some stuff, the owner, who was an elderly man, woke up, and scared them off. I am thinking that if they are so brazen to continue to break into houses after such a close-call (same neighborhood), then it's likely they're drugged out. I honestly don't give a puck and will drop 'em hitman style if I get the opportunity. Right now, I am looking out the living room window (view of front street) and looking for suspicious vehicles. Curiosity killed the cat and it's going to cause trouble for these goons too. Wouldn't be shocked if they already drove bye, or will drove bye.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to transition from civilian to killing 'em.

Taurus 740b Slim for concealed carry and a Tauraus PT940 in the house and car both loaded with hollow point Winchester .40 caliber bullets. If you gotta shoot then might as well shoot to kill not shoot to wound.
