True, the Canadian system is nowhere near perfect but the principle is that health care is a right, not a privilege. EVERY industrialized nation except the US share this belief.

I'm used to hearing the same tired old comments about the Canadian health care system from Americans, were commies etc. etc. because its "socialized".

But the bottom line is I have coverage until the day I die and it's comforting to know I'll not have to risk huge debt/bankruptcy should I become ill and require treatment.
just like the article i linked above says:
“The health system is not consumer-focused.”
Patients first learn of the problem when they are critically ill.

and don't give me this every industrialized country BS, i could care less what every other country does or how you say they feel about it. so please save the argumentum ad populum.

but lets address the issue on health care being a right. since when?

Third before you bring up the nonsense about the healthcare system in Canada have you ever heard of one Canadian that wants our system instead? You ever hear the citizens of Israel complaining about theirs? How about the French? You right wing moon bats blame everything on someone who is on welfare like their are 100 million people on it. I never met a person on welfare in my life. By the way I didn't see you anywhere when we bailed out Bear Sterns, the airlines and Freddie and Fannie. Why is it you right wing pigeons never have a problem when we socialize losses to the airlines and the bear Sterns of the world? I get it. Capitalize profit while socializing losses the rightwing way. Pathetic.
        Your absolutely right here Thor.

Furthermore, being a Libertarian in the American sense is exactly what you describe:
Preaching less government, but failing to realize the whole system is based on government. So it turns into bashing the victim, while the rich have less restraints and accountability to run wild.

grow up, nobody's bashing the victim, the poor helpless victims. OH MY

and wtf are you talking about the system is based on government? what system?

I'M talking about taken responsibility for yourself and stop relying on someone else to solve your problems (ie government)

btw it's called Freedom. How can anyone claim to be living in free society when the government SEIZES over half of the money you EARN, and then tells you what doctor you can go to. or tells you what school you can send your kids to. etc etc

Well the difference is simple, Canadians are happy with the system we have, Americans seem not too happy with theirs.

The American system doesn't affect me at all, I have Canadian government run socialized health care and I'm very happy with it, the attitudes of our two countries are very different, in the US anything "government or "socialist" is seen as bad. Those labels don't frighten anyone here.

Go ahead keep your system, its no sweat to me.

I don't want to debate (politics/health care) online, its pointless, especially with the ignorance of some Americans.

I'm very happy in Canada (most Canadians are - were not running to the US border like down south), life is good, and I have health coverage until I die.
