I don't mind doing it for money; how does $50 sound? And what are the rules? To win Cy Young? And if neither wins it (somehow) we could agree on a small group of people to vote on who had better numbers? If that were the case I think we would need to stipulate what stats matter (i.e. NOT W-L). I realize that may sound sketchy because Lee is currently 13-2 while Halladay is 11-7 but I hope we can agree W-L is a useless stat?

      Sure, $50 is fine.

Let's just say that if neither wins, the bet is void. Or we can see who finished higher in the voting? I think that way is more fair than having other posters determine it. It would be too biased. Yeah, but W-L is not the best statistic to go by...i agree.

I dunno what I was thinking your idea is much better, whoever finishes higher in the voting makes more sense. But now I'm having second thoughts because the voters take W-L into account and I could see Halladay finishing with a ~16-10 record 3.00 ERA and Lee a ~18-6 record 3.3 ERA (with WHIP and K/BB similar) and Lee finishes higher because of the record. I'd rather grade ourselves based on more advanced stats (PRC, FIP, etc...)

I have no problem doing something with the $$ ahead of time, or nothing. It's $50 which won't kill me. He is a HOFer so I'm inclined to trust him.

okay, it's up to you BBB.

Yeah, those voters aren't very smart at all. I guess Lee being on a bad team will hurt him somewhat, but same with Halladay unless TOR makes a run, and TOR is more likely to make a run IMO then CLEV.

Either way, it's up to you if you want to bet....

Im not saying you BB...no offense to either one of you...its just a fact that sometimes posters make bets and when it comes time to pay up...they are never to be heard from again...Ive always gone with "better safe than sorry" way

No worries I didn't think you were accusing me of anything AAO

As of 7/17 I saw CY odds at Halladay +200 and Lee +250. Since that date Halladay had a rough loss at Tampa Bay (6IP 5ER) and Lee win at Seattle (9IP 2ER). ESPN's Cy Young Predictor has Lee #1 and Halladay #5.

Does anyone know the current odds?

Roy Halladay is one of the best pitchers in all of baseball, but he won't win the Cy Young because of his W/L record. I agree that records mean absolutely nothing, but the Cy Young voters put more emphasis on that than they should, so it is what it is. If the season ended right now, Lee would be a shoe-in. Let's see what happens the next two months though.

                        what LT said.

if halladay can get some wins, he will win the cy

lee should win those most improved, comeback player crap awards.... not the cy young!!
