NL Central is the worst division in baseball. 18 games against the 3 worst teams on earth.
This is a no contest series.
This debate is foolery.

Stop with the nonsense. The Giants were a fraud and the proof of that is they couldn't make the playoffs this season. Last season, they had great starting pitching, a great bullpen, and got timely hitting which is essential in the postseason. Oh Yeah and a whole lot of luck. Cody Ross is a one trick pony eh? You and other Giants fans fail to take into account that the Phillies actually outscored the Giants in the series. The Giants got clutch hits and the Phillies didn't. That being said, take a look at who the more consistent franchise is and it's not close. If the Phillies win the World Series, that's 2 championships in the last 4 seasons after 5 straight division titles and back to back WS appearances in 08 and 09. Like it or not, the Phillies are the National League.

I already took it.
The Cards will probably just win 2 games out of this.
Put your money when Cliff Lee pitches, he is undefeated in the Playoffs.

You say "just", but that would extend series to the max. I like Phils in 3 or 4.

First of all the last 4 game series with St. Louis in the regular season came the day after the Phillies clinched the pennant... They sat most of the starts during this series and these games are irrelevant because the Phillies were just going through the motions. I watched the games and you can't tell me when you don't play Utley, Howard, Pence, and Polanco it doesn't make a difference... Phillies win and this thread is ridiculous...

phillies have a glaring weakness as do the yankees, which should be amplified in the playoffs. Problem for cardinals, their bullpen is even worse than phillies. milw should hve the best chance of anyone at beating philly. AL looks wide open as yanks are vulnerable.

Wrong. Phillies clinched the second game of the Cardinals series and pretty much everyone played the whole series except for Mr. 200 K's every year.
Go bet your house and 401k on the Phillies since they can't lose.

anybody know what the history is during the postseason when it's a wildcard team playing a powerhouse like this???
I'm curious to see how many 100 win teams were discarded in the first round

The cardinals have the most dangerous line up in the major league. They also have the best pitcher in the national league with his last 5 starts (carpenter) back to old form. The reason this team is a good play is they play as a team. Every guy on the team contributes. The reason it is a bad play is the relief pitching is horrible and the starting pitching can be suspect at times.
lol I will take carpenter right now over all your pitchers

Three worst teams on earth? Um what?
Doesn't make much sense on why you would judge a teams quality on that, maybe you are not smart enough to look beyond the total W/L record but its not that hard buddy.
We will see on Saturday how great the NL central is, when brewers kick some d-bag ass in a blow out at miller park.

Bought? The only player we "bought" was cliff lee. Traded for halladay, oswalt, pence. The following players are homegrown: Rollins, Utley, Howard, Ruiz, Hamels, Bastardo, Stutes, Madson. Keep reaching dude. You're only chance to win the series is if kyle lohse beats doc halladay. Not saying no chance but come on get realistic. also game 2 is carpenter on short rest of the first time in his career vs. cliff lee. The only team not to get absolutely dominated by lee in the playoffs were the giants last year who caught lightning in a bottle and gave every pitcher they faced problems. Do I need to mention game 4 edwin jackson vs roy oswalt? Oswalt is back to his vintage self throwing 95 mph on the black. Good luck the phillies squad will be ready for your team.

Where were you 2 hours ago when your lock was an underdog?
Obviously the Cards did and still do have a chance.

I wonder what the series price will be now? phillies -160? Cards bullpne looked solid tonight. Once again the phillies cant hit. Cards have been hitting the phils studs well so far. If Garcia can pitch a good game next time out the cards might win this series.
