found $180.00 laying on sidewalk at rest stop off I10 in florida. bent down and picked up money and elderly lady sees me and say thats my husbands he just dropped it. went on to the restroom and came out and their car and mine only ones at rest stop. went over to the man and asked him did he happen to lose any money and he checked and said no. about this time his wife was coming out of rest room and I started walking toward her and she just held out the money in her hand and gave it to me on her way by going to her car.
so i am in wal mart today sending a **.

And I know what you were getting at with your comment Dutch, we even heard a couple of announcements in the stations about pickpockets, but that's just a matter of being aware and knowing what to look for, like most things. There are thieves in every major city in the world, but the idea of Brits in general not doing each other like that was very apparent to me, in examples I saw every day. It really stood out.

#82People are fvcked up, but you just gotta keep doing what you think is right and hope for the best in this world.
You did the right thing. I would have taken the money to the Police instead of the employee though for a few reasons. Firstly, because that way if they cannot find the legitimate owner then you are entitled to keep it. Secondly, its more likely to find its way to its rightful owner via the Police compared to Walmart and people like the bloke behind you in line. Do you trust their employees to do the right thing too?
On the race thing, give it a rest guys. Generalizations are generalizations and their is no doubt that racial profiling was/is used as a tool as a result of criminal statistics. I make no judgment on that. Everyone is different though and that should be the attitude you take to your every day dealings, including SBR. It is hard not to be influenced by negative stereotypes though, which are all around you and almost born into us by osmosis in our formative years and beyond. You gotta grow past that though if you want to be a part of modern society IMO.Comment -

#91It's cool I appreciate it. I don't think I really did anything special, I really think or hope at least most people would do the same. If someone finds money and keeps it, well I wouldn't judge them on that. The problem is that the guy behind me was basically trying to go out of his way to steal the money. I am sure no one here wants their sportsbook to go out of buisness with their money,Which is the same thing to me that he was trying to do. I really didn't know this topic would create so much topic about race but I should of figured it. I was a border patrol agent for a few years and also worked in other federal law enforcement for quite a while and I have seen every race and color commit crime. I have seen poor mexicans coming across the border walk up to my vehicle and tur theirselves in because a total white stranger was beaten and hurt. I have also seen a rich white guy here in palm beach steal chips from a black guy at the kennel club. crime doesn't have color it is opportunity and need or want. I really didn't every think about keeping the money. To me 700 is not worth me thinking every day If I did the right thing. If the cashier decided to keep it I can't stop her but that is on her not me. I did whT I thought was right thing. The way the money was in the envelope. Figured t was lady who dropped it because guys put it in wallet. I also couldn't help to think this was Ther whole paycheck and I know it would suck to lose your whole check with no way to live. As I posted when I went back the other manager said a elderly lady came in a few minutes after I left. She was there before me and bought a money order and dropped it. So in all the right person got the money and that's all that matters. Thanks for all the good comments and the other ones that are interesting to readOriginally posted by babyjesusI wish I was pro so I could give you more than 2 points every 24 hoursComment -

Went back to store to reload betislands a second time today. Talked to a different manager who said a elderly lady came back in and claimed it. She had bought a money order a few minutes before I got there and had dropped it.
