Economist magazine is an international magazine, they rag on the USA all the time on them. Its not surprising the USA is not on the top 10 list. But I am sure all of them were fair because I am sure they love high taxes and high unemployment rates. You put a city such as LA on the list, which high unemployment, crime rate, taxes.
And then a city like Austin is not. Because I assume they factor into weather into the most 'livable' cities. Other wise I have no idea how a city from Australia made the list.
Austin great city, low taxes, crime rate stable, but, its conservative zomg. Never will see them on a list of the most 'livable' cities.
This is just some elitist, list of their most desirable places according to their believes. And you act like, Economist all think alike. I can guarantee you if you polled different ones, you would get a different list dramatically.
But most economist believe in the whole Keynesian economical theories so, again, its no surprise why they believe this is the best places to live. Tax and spend, so they are going to find cities, that fit that role.
