Fishhead that sounds like a real good deal for $800 a month with everything included. I would like to ask though will it be really hard to find a job there though? If I thought it was pretty good to find a job there I would go there within a year or two. Right now I cannot because of family issues and I am in some lawsuits that I have to be here for but after that I will in very interested in moving somewhere new. I just think this city where I am at it not where I want to be long term at all. What industries will be the best to look into there for finding a job with is what I would ask? I do think that the Vegas area probably isn't quite as bad as say in the northern part of the state is economy wise though. It might be better than I think a few years from now which is unknown at this time. I just keep hearing things are rough out there.

#107I live adjacent to the campus. The best thing about the area is the proximity to the strip, which is a huge plus if you work or like to spend time on the strip. My building is pretty nice and gated, but most of the immediate area isn't so hot. I know a number of people who have lived in a complex just east of the Hard Rock next to the athletic fields and they were happy with what they got for the price.Originally posted by Brock LandersNo one mentions the area around the hard rock casino/hotel and UNLV, how are these places? I love the Hard Rock as a place to just hang outComment -

#115If you have a college degree and can pass a background check you can get a job in this town with no problem. One of the reasons unemployment is high out here is because the schools are not too hot and a lot of kids don't graduate high school.
It seems like the casinos are always looking for people with a degree and clean record. I applied at 3 casinos and got a call back and interview with all 3.
The available work force in Vegas is not the highest quality.
Housing can be hella cheap, $400 a month is what I pay for everything, you can find some jams on Craigslist. Know a girl who pays $550 for her own 1 bedroom apartment in Summerlin. Those Budget places are decent, but definitely not worth a g a month (unless you just have money to blow). Stayed there a few weeks.
You either got to have a car out here, or a bike and live close to the strip.
And I hear UNLV is probably the worst college in the country in terms of having a "college experience." Majority of the people attending have full time jobs.Comment -

#116Damn. No wonder you think this place stinks. You live in North Town and for $400 a month, everything included.Originally posted by Inkwell77Housing can be hella cheap, $400 a month is what I pay for everything, you can find some jams on Craigslist.

#118It's an awful experience. Although I believe they do sell beer. Thank god the team wins otherwise T&M would be as empty as a MWC tourney game between TCU and Wyoming on a Wednesday afternoon.Originally posted by HoulihansTXThe Basketball comment is false. The student section is always soldout.
The part about the football is true. Worse program in America.
I thought the Maize Rage was pathetic and corny until I went to UNLV basketball games. No coordinated chants and they have this atrocious PA announcer during breaks and timeouts instead of just letting the pep band play songs.
This is all stemming from the "town pride" comment by Inkwell that I 100% agree with. Instead of supporting the local teams, everyone supports Lakers Basketball, USC Football, and Yankees Baseball. Or they're transplants and still support their "hometown" teams (guilty).
UNLV should and could own this town, but the average sports fan will never get involved with the local universities team. God forbid if I ever have kids, I wouldn't send them to UNLV. It's night and day from any Big Ten school.Comment
