So I'm thinking about moving to Vegas to be closer to the sportbooks. Over the last 3 months I've built up a bankroll over $100000. The problem is my wife and I have two young kids and we don't know if we want to raise them in that enviornment. Any thoughts?

100k should be enough to make a living out there.
Don't drink, stay disciplined, and study, and you should be fine.

I lived in Vegas before the internet exploded for about 10 years. I don't think you get nearly the value with Harrahs owning so many books. I used to literally run from book to book trying to get the best number. Much easier just to point and click on web.
The quality of life there is like any other city. Maybe better with all the new schools being built in the last 10 years. After living there awhile the casinos are really not noticed and you do regular things you do in any towns. Ie. going to movies, mowing lawn. Regular boring any town stuff.Comment -
mattyboy i know your relatively young and have alledged to be up over 100 K but you chose this life you have now with kids and a wife .............. it doesn't make much sence to move to SIN CITY and have all the distractions of lust drugs degenerate gambling to come aboard u will get caught up in it or you will go broke before you get settled in your new environment and this will ruin what have built thusfar with your family ............ if you were a bachlor and had a 100 K i would say yo dawg you need to give this a try and see how long it last for you ................ but thats not your situation and don't feel bad bro i fantasize about the same things you do about the vegas life what could of been but me and you r in the same boat, young married and with kids it sucks .......... but at the end of the day were content , cuz win or loose we have people to come home to eveyday who love us ! and that sh it goes along way ............. so if i were you just continue to keep your day job and have internet gambing as another source of income you feel me ? Add me to the No group. Go for a quality of life area like the Carolinas or somewhere equally as beautiful and affordable. You and your family will be happier and the relaxed enviroment will make betting easier. Vegas is a rat race.Comment -

I think 100k wouldn't be enough. If you were single, sure, but with a family you need more of a buffer. Don't want to move everyone out there and then have it not work out.
OTOH, I don't see a problem with raising a family in vegas. It's not like your kids are going to be living on the strip or downtown. There are nice/normal parts of vegas.Comment -

I have lived out here for 13 years, and you live off the strip. I hardly go to the strip, and when I need to get a bet down out here, it is at a local casino. Hell, the only time I hit the strip is when there is a "bash" in town.
I have a career though, along with this mixed in. If your just going to up and move your family out here and do the gambling thing, I say no. Not good for your family.Comment -
