WV Gambler, there's a site called legacy.com My buddy was on there, got it in an email. Not sure if somebody had to put him there or how it works at all. But if you were close to him you might want to check it out. My buddies wife really seemed to find some comfort posting there and reading everyone else's posts to him.

Sorry for your loss. Everyone has to die, at least he died standing like a man for something he believed in.

Wheeling native killed in Iraq insurgent attack
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Wheeling native serving in the U.S. Army was killed by insurgents this week in an indirect-fire attack in Iraq, U.S. officials said.
Capt. David Edward Van Camp, 29, died Wednesday, according to a statement from the Department of Defense.
Van Camp had been stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, with the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. He died in Badrah, Iraq.
He is survived by his wife, Chelsea, his parents and extended family, according to a statement by Senate President Earl Ray Tomblin, who is acting as governor.
"Van Camp was committed to serving his country and he demonstrated valor, even in the face of danger," Tomblin said Saturday. "As our nation prepares to recognize our independence, we extend our sincere gratitude to all our military families, especially those who have lost loved ones. We are forever indebted to those who protect America's freedoms."
Van Camp was serving in support of Operation New Dawn, and previously had been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from August 2006 through May 2007.
He is the recipient of a Bronze Star Medal, a Purple Heart, a Meritorious Service Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, an Iraq Campaign Medal including two combat service stars, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, a Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation, an Army Service Ribbon, a National Defense Service Medal, a Combat Action Badge, a Parachutist Badge and two Overseas Service Ribbons.
Also killed in the attack were Capt. Matthew G. Nielson, 27, of Jefferson, Iowa, and Spc. Robert G. Tenney Jr., 29, of Warner Robins, Ga., the Defense Department said.

Well last weekend, a few buddies and myself were allowed to pick Dave up at the small airport in town. We followed the hearse back into town followed by over 300 bikers from numerous biker clubs with flags. The entire city (which is actually very big) lined the streets as we brought him home...it was abolutely amazing. Like a movie.

Today is the local viewing and service...and I am just sick to my stomach. Going to be a long day. Think I have developed an ulcer.

bottle of xanax in one pocket and a bottle of pepto in the other. Tomorrow we drive to Arlington, where he will be buried in the National Cemetery on Monday.

Looking like the worst weekend of my life kicks off in about an hour and 15 minutes. Wish me luck, and maybe throw a prayer our way this weekend, if praying is your thing. It's not mine, but it's still always welcome.

These things (I mean the funeral) tend to be easier than we think they'll be. I'm always amazed how all I have to do is show up and say stuff and stand there and it's over. I hope that's how it was for you WV...keep the peace...and keep in touch with the widow a month from now when everybody else has left their meat loafs and moved on.

If you have not been to Arlington before, the dignity,class, and respect throughout that place will be in honor of your friend, his family and to all that have served.
During the service you will feel what I am talking about.
It blew me away. As sorry as I am that you must for through it, if it does to you what it did to me, you will never forget it. Much like your friend, it's top notch.
