Played 15 straight hours in cash game yesterday at casino

Played $1-$2 at Turning Stone in NY from 2pm till 5AM this morning. Overall, played very well, but only was up $67.

Poker is a grind especially when playing 15 straight hours. A lot of ups and downs.

Playing poker for that low stakes at the casino is virtually pointless, 1/2 NL is strictly a home game (no rake) type of thing, they shouldnt even have 1/2 NL in the casino as its just a waste of time, if you cant afford 2/5 NL dont even waste the gas money except occasionally on friday or saturday nights you might get lucky and find some drunks just fuckin off their cash. You played well and made $4.50 an hour, you coulda sat on your ass and taken 10 mins just to put somebodys roast beef sandwich in a bag at Arbys and made 8 an hour with no risk

pots can grow rather quickly, regardless of blinds... not sure why you'd feel there is no point to playing 1/2 Ive made some decent coin over an hour or 2 playing 1/2, but I understand what you are saying in the grand scheme of things

There is not much I know in life, but 1 thing I know for sure is that gamblers are some of the most full of shit liars in the entire world.

Most of these guys ( if not all ) would play for 15 hours and be lucky if they were only down $67. But they will still line up to shit on you for making $67. They want to live in Fantasy land where they are such great poker players that they wouldnt waste their time for $67.

When I was learning the game, thats all I heard from everyone I knew who played. Everyone I knew claimed to be making thousands a month profit. I started playing, and I would watch these guys and every damn last one of the were long term losers.

Sure everyone has their good nights where you seem to catch your gutshot straight on the river every time its a big pot. Then we all have our shit nights where you know the guy chasing you to the river has a gutshot and he seems to hit it every time. Thats poker.

Just the same, very very few people make money long term. I mean you have to overcome the rake, the PSJ, and the dealer tips as I assume most tip the dealer. Thats a lot to overcome.

One thing I have to say is that Texas Holdem is really an amazing game. I mean anytime I go to the casino there is like $25,000 or more on the jackpot board between bad beat payouts, high hands, royal flushes, straight flushes, quads, etc. I also see the dealers walking away with a nice amount of tips every night, and of course the casino is making a profit too, they dont do it for free. All this and yet EVERY player and I mean EVERY player claims to be doing so good that they clown on a guy who "only made $4.50 an hour" . The math just doesnt add up.

Anyways, you made $4.50 an hour. If you play 15 hous and dont hit any jackpots and your up $67 you should be happy with that outcome. And whether these people want to admit it or not, that a lot better than they usually do. Dont just listen to what I or they say, look at the evidence. A lot of these guys clowning you for "only making $4.50 an hour" dont even have the $200 to become pro.

i use to go to turning stone every weekend when I was 18 (~5 years ago) was like a 3 1/2 hour drive. That was pre fake ID and me turning 21. the 1/2 games were soft as hell must have made over 10K in about 2-3 month span. Sammy did you go into that club there rain or whatever it is? i heard it was good and was thinking about making another trip this summer but mohegan and foxwoods are only an hour away and AC is 4 hours away so I'm trying to figure out if its worth the ride.
