I see what you're saying but i don't agree with you man. A ring is whatever. It's been done 40 times and no matter how much you spend on it, no one is going to pay any attention. A belt though is going to be remembered forever. I mean, imagine being Jason Terry in 10 years doing commentary for TNT games. In my opinion, the belts would make them look like clowns and go against the notion everyone has that this is a classy team and organization. The RING is the symbol of a sports Championship. It is traditional, it's what players chase. If they wanted to have some sort of joke belts that was a locker room thing/an inside joke sort of thing, that's one thing and it'd be an inside team thing ... but to get them in an actual ceremony would be the corniest shit I have ever seen. I honestly don't see how the guys who are on the Mavs would think it was cool.
