    4.49-4.79

I'm considering buying a PT Cruiser just so I can get their $2.99 gas. The savings would pretty much pay for the car.

I think you should consider their guidelines sir before making that decision... It's not even close to paying for the car...

Don't be like HedgeHog... Read their T&A because if you don't you can't come to SBR and cry about it...

Those cars are Junk. I would never buy an American car. I had one once and never again.

According to news, gas will hit $5 by summer so according to my calculations the PT will cost about $4000 in gas for next 3 years compared to $11000 for my SUV. That's a savings of $7000. And I can buy a Pt for $9900. When I sell it in 3 years I can get 40% of MSRP which is $7200. So the total cost of the car is $3800 and subtract that from $7000 I saved in gas and I come out close to $3000 ahead.

what happens if gas price drops suddenly and goes below the guarenteed price?. This most likely this is the same money they would come off the car anyways

Yeah I know my parents used to only buy Fords and they used to break down by 30k miles. We only buy Hondas and Toyotas now.

Believe me I wouldnt even consider a Chrysler if not for their lifetime warranty and the gas discount.

Come on now, OPEC and gas companies will never let that happen. They keep making excuses that China is using more oil yet are cutting production. What does that tell you.

Yeah...Yeah....Yeah... because the news is already right... THEY ARE USUALLY WRONG... Except for places where the cost of living is really high like CA. ....GAS IS NOT GOING TO $5 reguardless of what your all mighty always accurate news says...

Ok HedgeHog listen... you got to read the terms...

Just to start with it's capped at 12K miles a year...

Does that change your calculations any..?

Let's say you save an average of $2 per gallon... So how many gallons does it take you to go 12K miles...?

Right because 4.79 going up to 5.00 is just such a monumental jump that its nearly impossible.

Btw it wasn't long ago that they were predicting $4 and I'm sure u scoffed then too.

My calculation is based on 12000 a year. My SUV gets 17mpg while PT gets 26.

Nooooo I was one that's been saying gas is going higher but it's not going to $5 and where you are is far from the average... I DID SAY places like Ca. MIGHT see it briefly...

Yeah last year the same people that are saying $5 now were saying gas was going to $4 last summer... and THEY WERE WRONG!!! The average never got close and it hit $4 this year... The same thing is happening.. Why can't you see that..?

You guys fade the public on sports but I guess not many people's thinking go too far past sports...

What I am saying is if you save $2 per gallon on 12K miles per year capped that is not much... You can go get any mid size car that gets better milage not just a PT and better quality too like Honda's...

                                          Shams,

The news has never been wrong. They were right when they predicted $3, $4 and will be again when $5 hits. $5 is already a reality in many towns and has been for months!!!!

If you think prices are going to come down think again. In my town it went up 40 cents in less than one month!

National avg doesn't reflect reality. Its always weighed down by thousands of small towns with low standards of living, high unemplyment...... avg only the metropolitans and prices will hit $5 by the end of this year. No doubt in my mind.

You must be rich if you think $1500 a year is nothing. That's how much I'd save if it were $2 less per gallon. For a single family household you're talking about $3000 a year and $9000 in three years!!!!!

And its not just gas prices that are affected. Prices of food, cigarettes, taxi and airplane fares all rise thanks to high gas prices. Its simple economics. To say it's "just $2" is ignorant. There are many businesses that have gone bankrupt because they cant afford gas.

Tell me a scenario where buying a Honda would have me up $3000 at the end of three years as my example I presented earlier.
