UConn down 3-2 now on a SC HR in the 8th. Guess the handicap would have been better today, but UConn had a lot of shots to add to the two runs they had. Always hit into DPs and could not get a key hit.

SANTA CLARA SUPER REGIONAL: [GAME 2] DALLAS BAPTIST +160 Same as UConn. If Dallas Baptist gets beat, so be it but I think they are equal to the task with their ace today.

Yeah the experience definitely helped SC win this series. UConn has some real opportunities in both games to get themselves a decent lead, but they could not come through with the big hits when needed like they did last weekend. SC came through when they needed too. Well we have at least two game threes tomorrow. UVA/Irvine & A&M/FSU. If Dallas Baptist can win tonight, they'd force a Game 3 as well. A&M coach may have sacrificed today's game for tomorrow leaving Wacha out. Admittedly the kid had pitched quite a bit last weekend and could probably benefit from rest. Pitching edge goes to them. A&M will score some tomorrow against whatever FSU scrapes up to start. I think UVA should get it done although they're making it interesting, they too should have a big pitching edge. Irvine has a few options to pitch, but none will measure up to Will Roberts.

Cripes. Dallas Baptist's pitching can't do anything. Really thought they'd at least keep the games close. Any time they get back within striking distance, pitchers give it right back. So much for my thoughts on the big underdogs in the Supers. Chalk is 13-4 straight up at this point. Think Mississippi State's shocking Game 2 win yesterday was the biggest winner @ +300-something. The other dogs that hit have all been I think around +130-+170 or so.

Super Regionals Record: 6-5 [+1.30]
Futures: 0-2 [-2.00]
Well both longshot futures crapped out in two games. Disappointed that UConn or Dallas Baptist didn't at least stretch their series to three games. UC-Irvine vs. Virginia @ 4pm ET. A&M vs. Florida State @ 7pm ET tonight. Trying to find info on who UC-Irvine is starting today.

Looks like Crosby Slaught for UCI today. 7-2, 3.97 ERA vs. Will Roberts 11-1, 1.61 ERA. Slaught has not pitched since May 29th, a 5-0 loss to Long Beach. Going to wait and see where they set the spread for UVA. Should be 2.5. Total is 8.5, juiced to the under right now.

Interesting option. I do like A&M with a chance today. Can thank the blowout yesterday to the over reaction today on the price. They had been +160 or +170 in the 1st two games and toss out their best pitcher [Wacha] vs. Hunter Scantling for FSU.

CHARLOTTESVILLE SUPER REGIONAL: [GAME 3] VIRGINIA-IRVINE UNDER 8.5 [-125] Conventional wisdom says Virginia as the top rated seed should prevail at home today behind better pitching. However, this is a similar spot to where the Wahoos found themselves last year and then got clocked by Oklahoma. That will be in the back of their minds as well as a bullpen that blew a lead yesterday due to a lack of activity in the last few weeks due to the dominant starting pitching. Will Roberts sports a sub-2.00 ERA and goes today for UVA, but he has not pitched since they beat Maine ten days ago in the regionals. He's been a dominant pitcher though, rarely walking too many with just 12 free passes in 90 IP. Opponents also hit just .204 against him, so base runners could be at a premium which helps against the small ball of UC-Irvine. Irvine puts Crosby Slaught on the bump. While he has not been a huge presence [3.97 ERA in 13 starts], he brings experience. Irvine is also prepared to have their bullpen fully engaged today and won't hesitate to turn to them early if Slaught falters. The Anteater pen has been solid, allowing just two runs against Virginia and only three unearned runs last week in the regionals. So long as Roberts comes out and gets on a roll early like the Virginia starters have done this series, I think this will have a shot to finish under.

GL to you too. UVA -1.5 scared me a little more. Should be solid, but after last year and the fact that absolutely no "underdogs" have won a series ... either Irvine or A&M is going to win today, that I would guarantee. Then again, chalk has been king this weekend.

I really like A&M's chances with Wacha on the mound tonight, Im thinking FSU should have saved some of those runs from yesterday for tonight. What do you think about the total in that game?

Wanted to say thanks for the writeups. It's hard to find any decent writeups, let alone unbiased ones when it comes to college sports. As for the games today, I think they both play out in similar fashion. UVA got to Summers for 5 runs and Whitehouse for 3. I think Slaught is going to into trouble early. CS Fullerton put up 5 in 4 innings, Pacific put up 5 in 4 innings and CS Bakersfield hung 6 in less than inning. Irvine has Thurman, pitched last night, and Hooper (4.15 ERA) that seem to be used when a starter gets in trouble early, because they can provide 3-5 innings. After that the bullpen is 1, maybe 2 inning guys who aren't bad, they just don't typically provide extended relief. I could see UVA putting 9 themselves and it may take that for the over to hit. Outside of another weather delay, I don't see Will Roberts having much trouble getting through 6 innings with no more than 2 runs. I'm on UVA -1.5 for this game.
The A&M game seems similar to me. A&M got to FSU's top two pitchers for 9 runs. There is not much in either bullpen outside of Nick Fleece (A&M) and Daniel Bennett (FSU) both of whom could throw tonight. Wacha has 115.2 IP compared to Scantling's 58.2 and has only given up 7 more runs, 2 more earned runs and 3 more walks. Game 1 went to A&M 6-2 and I think they win this one. I'm on A&M ML and over 9.5.
Best of luck on your bets

I'm watching Virginia/UC Irvine and one of the ESPN announcers is an absolute buffoon.
Runner on third, one out, Irvine player swings at a bad pitch out of the zone and grounds out. Infield was not playing in, so a run scores.
Announcer falls all over himself praising the dude who hit the grounder, saying again and again that it's team baseball.
No, team baseball is to take a pitch like that that you can't put a good swing on. Team baseball is taking a walk, not making an out on a pitch where you had no chance. Swinging at bad pitches is just bad baseball.
I hate when these guys say these really stupid things and manage to get away with it.

Have not been able to watch, is it Mike Patrick? I hate the mother fukker. Under looks pretty decent. This is why I was not able to talk myself into take Virginia. They might get a late run, but way too much pressure to take that chalk.

Mike Patrick was an awful football announcer, and I can't imagine he's any better at baseball.
OK, he's not the one, but it's two other Mikes:

TALLAHASSEE SUPER REGIONAL: [GAME 3] TEXAS A&M +175 As I've been saying since yesterday, the pitching match-up here is favorable to A&M with Michael Wacha on the mound. He's pitched 13 innings of scoreless ball so far in the regionals. He'll face a tough task against a loaded lineup, but teammate Ross Stripling showed in Game 1 that superior pitching can win out vs. the Noles big bats. FSU turns to Scantling. A big righty who looks like he should be playing football. He was a mid-week starter for FSU and sometimes bullpen guy. He's got some experience, but he's hittable. Scantling has given up at least four runs in three of his last five outings. Certainly it's the all-hands-on-deck routine tonight. Bullpens are about even, I think.
