    Jorge Posada Done??????

Seems like Jorge is down on baseball after hitting just 165 and losing the starting catchers gig. I think he may be done, and when i say done i mean retiring tonight after the game...................

Jorge Posada was scratched from the lineup on Saturday night shortly before the first pitch. Posada originally was penciled in the No. 9 hole in the Yankees’ lineup, a place he hasn’t hit since May 14, 1999.

About a half hour before first pitch, the Yankees announced that Posada has been scratched and replaced by Andruw Jones, who will hit ninth and serve as designated hitter.

It is unclear why Posada was scratched.

Jones enters play tonight hitting .226 (7-for-31).

Well, they knew last season he couldn't catch anymore. He was never good defensively in the first place.

                      He can still hit enough.

Posada has spent many years as a Yankee, and the loyalty/respect thing for him his huge. It's a slippery slope because if they disrespect him, guys like Mariano and Jeter are very close to him. The big problem is he's taking up a roster spot that the Yanks desperately need, and if he's not producing there's a fine line between loyalty and winning. Jorge is too classy to be a malcontent, he would never screw the team.

Posada stinks he is a below avg catcher
His post season starts are dismal
He is a terrible base runner
And for your dh to hit 7 in the al is absurd
                          He has no business complaining
They resigned him out of loyalty
This coming from a die hard nyy fan
                          He is no los s
Hasn't been any value since 08

Being a Yankee fan, Jorge has been a great Yankee, but this is another example of the stupid contracts that Brian Cashman negotiates. Cashman has got to be one of the worst GM's in the business. The Yankees have major holes, and ass nugget Cashman hands out $15 million a year to Jeter, and Posada 4 years/$52 million...just brutal. The guy has mismanagement signings such as Feliciano from the Mets who won't even pitch because of his bad shoulder and he threw $8 million at him. Maybe the owners should look where the true problem lies....with the GM

Is this really a story 2/3 of Cs are a waste of a lineup spot and only bout half can play defense

Agree! But he's not a catcher anymore he's a DH. He's paid to hit! He'll survive through the end of the year with "nagging injuries" and fade away into Yankees lore.

Sounds like Jorge actually blew a gasket....talk about a wakeup call....they cut him for a breach of contract...that would definitely send a message to the rest of the team. I couldn't imagine it going that far, but saying you're not playing because you feel "disrespected" is bush league, especially coming from Posada

Posada is lucky he is playing DH....yankees made it clear when they choose not to resign Matsui that they don't want a dedicated DH.
