Yes they have to keep all winning tickets to get compensated .I just explained this scratch off business the vendor pays the store to put that product inn the store when the roll of scratchers is depleted they call the vendor for another roll.Lets say you have a 5000 ticket roll only 100 tickets are winners 50 $1 dollar winners and 50 $10 winners for a grand total of $510 that leaves 4490 worth of losing tickets sold. The vendor gives the store its cut of losing tickets sold similar to the state lottery giving the cut of losing tickets sold to the education funds.Ok the vendor gives them a check for $550 + whatever % of losing ticket sales they agreed on.Vendor replenishes the roll of scratchers and takes the old scratchers for accounting purposes.

I won 1k once, they scanned it and printed out a ticket I had to take to the bank. It's all automated I'm sure the lottery people could access the computer and find out exact time they scanned a 10k winner. If it coincides with the time you were there you could at least beat the hell out of this guy. I don't know if they will.Comment -

They keep winning tickets so you can go back and claim that you won, but if it was worth 10,000 then it cant be cashed at a lottery ticket seller, it has to be claimed at the main offices, so they guy could have scanned it saw it won a lot, then gave you a free ticket and went to redeem it himself.Comment -

happens all the time. the new york lottery even did a sting on clerks that were doing that to people. gotta ask about their in-store surveilance and talk to a manager there. buuuut....yeah its probably gone. hopefully you know the time and date that you cashed it in because theres a record of the ticket being processed at that time.Comment -

If there was a free ticket listed as a prize, you didn't win all the prizes. When a scratch ticket list a free ticket that is the only prize that can be won. I have never seen a sratch ticket that has given cash and a free ticket on the same ticket.Comment -

You called it a scratch 5 lotto ticket, but on the Califonia lottery website it doesnt list a game with that name. Closest is TAKE 5 which I assume is what you meant since that game does feature a star which wins you all 12 prizes.

Here is ur probelm. If you won $10,000 it would definitly not be $10,000 + a free ticket. So no way could one of the 12 prizes have been a FREE TICKET. I have played games like this where you have 10 chances to win, and I have won in all 10 spots a few times. When that happens, all 10 spots are either $5 each making it a $50 ticket or $10 each making it $100 and I think I have gotten a combination of $5 and $10's coming out to $75.
Still no way are you going to win $10,000 + a free ticket. In fact the Cali lottery webiste lists the prize levels for this game.
