          Quebbler, the moral of this story is do what you want no matter what. If you have to defend what u're doing, then defend it, even if an old drunk guy gets mad.

          I will look into playing by the book... but it doesnt seem to work with the general public. Some people will challenge things just cuz they are different. I will admit that there is a time people should be hitting, i just think they do it too much and beat themselves before the dealer has a chance to bust out.

                    Maybe Rob and Dildo can co-author a book based on their vast knowledge on this subject:

                      Exactly. Never use the cards they offer in the casino. One time I was given a card by the pit boss that was absolutely terrible. Worst I had ever seen. Based on house rules, it had an expected -EV of about -2.5%. The best suggestion is to do your homework ahead of time and come in with the correct basic strategy the first time. If the rules are so bad that basic strategy can't get you down to at the most -1% EV, you should be looking for another casino.

                      For the beginner, I would strongly reccommend Stanford Wong's book: http://www.amazon.com/Professional-B.../dp/0935926216

                      This book is a classic. All of his plays (hit or stand on 16 versus 10, when to split, etc.) are based on running 100,000,000 simulations or more on each very specific situation. Since it is impossible to calculate the exact correct odds for each play (there is an astronomical amount of combinations in even 4 decks), the 100,000,000+ simulations are a neccessity. With some basic card counting, which is clearly outlined in his book, and the correct basic strategy and money management (i.e. bet 1 unit with -edge or =edge or 1% edge, bet 2 units with 2% edge, 3 units with 3% edge, etc.), the player can expect to win a small amount over the long run.

                        This Guy Knows How to Win...WONG!, July 25, 2007 By The Pants "Pantalonas" (LR, AR) - See all my reviews

                        I read this dirt bag book, followed the four rules (seen below), and lost all my money, my job, my wife and children, and my dignity. I recently realized something on the bus back to my one room apartment in the projects (my ex won't let the kids see where I live, and the courts ruled agaist me too...due to the gambeling)...Wong wouldn't be trying to make money selling this book if his techniques were worth a hoot. The casinos should pay Wong for writing this book...and they probably do.

                        Now I'm reading a book on guns.

                        (1) make the appropriate playing decision (e.g. hit / stand);
                        (2) bet more when odds favor that you will win;
                        (3) have a sufficient bankroll available; and
                        (4) play enough rounds

                            Interesting. So the ethnicity and gender of the dealer has an effect on the outcome of the game even though they're drawing cards from a random sample?

                                We agree, but I was trying to be subtle. Sad to say, but it might be a best-seller!
