They should have that in audio book for some...

Just for some. I'm definitely rooting for the players on this one. Don't think the owners are being greedy necessarily, just disillusioned.

The players don't get guaranteed contracts like those worthless baseball players and they put themselves in a whole lot of harm...

Only a handful of these owners really had much to do with making the league what it is today, These new guys need to wise-up.

No pro football might be a good thing. Won't bother me in the least if the '11 season gets wiped out.

              Greed vs Greed.

Read this somewhere NFL takes $1.3b for costs but it says these have risen steeply since the previous deal in 2006 and it now wants to take $2.3b.

Maybe fly coach instead of private jets. The rich always want to be richer and forget how lucky they are. End of the day it will cost the person the street more but they (owners, players etc) don't care about the man on the street.

I expect there will be a season

The owners own the team, and invested the money in the team. What part of this do people not understand? Did you not take economics 101 in high school? Do you not believe in the principles of capitalism? They take all the risk while some dumbfuk who just dropped out of college makes millions to run. **** the players, I say fire them all and take applications. I will watch.

screw the greedy ass owners they are all billionaires, they use our tax dollars to build their stadiums and luxury skyboxes for the rich friends, then price their tickets so that a middle class father cant even take his son to a game.

i back the players 1000% they bust their ass 365 days a year to prepare for the sport - literally get their brains beaten to a pulp playing the game for 2-3 yrs before they are cut or forced to retire.

anyone who has ever played the sport at a level beyond h.s. knows the sacrifices it takes to play the game.

i would like to see the players start their own league - f\*\*k the owners. lets see how many people will show up on a sunday to see the owners play a game.

It will for sure be a shame if there is no NFL, but I do feel that it'll open new chances for other leagues like the UFL. I bet a lot of players would go play there just to stay in the game... It's time for a change... lets see what happens to the owners if they aint got any players in their teams... They'd shit a brick and BEG the players to come back... good bye NFL... Hello UFL... where do I sign up to buy a team now while they cheap... LOL... maybe this time I can be an owner, I know I'll do everything possible to avoid lock outs and I'd for sure keep my players happy... I already have the name for my team and all "The NFL Haters"

There's a reason why the NFL is the #1 sport, and it's not the players.
Owners provide the facilities for the players, own the buildings they play in, pay their salaries.

Clear case here of biting the hand that feeds you.

First off, the principles of capitalism do not apply. Capitalism embraces competition, the NFL restricts it. A salary cap is the opposite of what capitalism stands for. If there were no salary cap, the players would still make as much money. How much do you think Dan Snyder would pay for Peyton Manning if there were no salary cap.

And to be clear, the players and owners both negotiated the CBA and both agreed to it. Now the owners want to reneg. They are still bound to pay the contracts they signed the players to, with or without a CBA.

The propensity of people to use capitalistic principles to defend the owners is dumbfounding. They routinely violate anti-trust laws and collude to monopolize.

I would also be interested in hearing how many people would spend $200k on a luxury suite to watch some guys that were in the CFL last year.

The NFL Players Association is in the process of blocking prospects from attending next month's NFL draft in New York.

The NFLPA has already contacted at least 17 top prospects and "informed them not to go" to Radio City Music Hall if they receive invitations to the April 28-30 draft. So when the No. 1 overall pick is announced, Roger Goodell would not hand him his jersey as is custom. It would continue to create an awkward feel in the football community. "As of right now, this is 100 percent happening," one source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. "This is going down."

                                              • The average career of an NFL player is 3 1/2 seasons

The NFLPA has already contacted at least 17 top prospects and "informed them not to go" to Radio City Music Hall if they receive invitations to the April 28-30 draft. So when the No. 1 overall pick is announced, Roger Goodell would not hand him his jersey as is custom. It would continue to create an awkward feel in the football community. "As of right now, this is 100 percent happening," one source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. "This is going down."

Don't see how or why any draft prospects would participate in a draft when no CBA exists.

                                                    we'll see.

If the owners do lock out this union which Vick , Rodgers etc are a part of ... isn't it possible, if they see no chance of a settlement, the owners allow replacement players to play? If so, there are current players who belong to the current NFLPA that could decide to play and earn a paycheck? Just asking.

My understanding is ..The owners will make hundreds of millions from TV revenues regardless if they are the NFL players or not? They key for them is to put a team out on the field Sundays.

There is no union. There are just ~2000 players individually under contract. The owners locked them out, so nobody can play. It is a violation of antitrust laws for the owners to say that X can play, and Y cannot.
