EPMD was definitely the sh*t back in the day... Erick & Parish Making Dollars/Dough.

Too bad that Erick had to use hired guns to get his piece of the pie.

Lil' Wayne's hella suspect to me... He only got hot after Jay-Z took a particular interest in him as a potential Def Jam prospect. He's a punchline rapper.

I grade rappers on three primary levels:

              1. Is the voice unique - "do you enjoy listening to this guy's voice?"
              2. Is the the flow on point - "does the rapper own the beat?"
              3. What's his lyrical content like - "do his lyrics make you think?"

Lil' Wayne doesn't score all that high in my opinion.

The receipt by Lil Wayne was hot. If we are talking about voices than we start and end with GURU. The dopest voice. Nas is a close second. Biggies and Big L's were right there too.

I like fishscale but I think Big Doe is better. 1000 grams was dope though.

When Ice Cube split from NWA was a good era, because they made you buy their CD's because you wanted to hear what they had to say about each other.

Rap these days don't compare to the late 80's, early/mid 90's.
