2Pac was a lot of things but a classic rapper was not one of them.

The last 2 classic hip hop albums I've heard was Opio-Triangulation Station, and Kirb&Chris-Niggaz and White Girlz

Also there were only 9 songs on that piece.
Then you cannot really HEAR true hip hop. Illmatics production was as fire as it gets.

But its like that for the masses. Most people who claim to be rap fans don't know what real hip hop is. The masses have no clue. Those who can really HEAR hip hop like great artists like Hieroglyphics, Organized Konfusion, Mobb Deep, **, Tribe Called Quest, etc.

For the record, Illmatic was the only Nas album I ever really listened to. Heard he went downhill from there.

Jerk I have listened to hip hop for 21 years now solid. I have a hip hop collection that is, well it is quite large. I am one of the less than 1% of the so called hip hop fans that can actually hear great hip hop. Most people such as yourself are commercial rap listeners and thus have only been exposed to about .000000001% of all the great rap in the world. 2pac never released an album that is even in the top 500 albums released. He did have great production on a few songs. He was worshipped by the white guys who fell in love with the gangbanger style rappers. He claimed to be a gangbanger, acted the fool and that got the retarted white kids wearing blue and red bandanas and "listening" to rap. Not saying that all the gang banging rap was bad, but 2pac was not a great rapper.

2Pac was a commercialized rapper who benefitted from great production on about 4 of his songs. These 4 or 5 along with his association with Dr. Dre made him this "legendary rapper" who in actuality is not in the top 10,000 rappers to ever live. I have guys that I went to high school with who were far more original lyrically. He didn't have a real lyrical ability. Simply a commercial/overrated rapper who was consistently laughed at by his rapping peers with real skills.

Cash Money, Big L was a very nice rapper. He didn't have the benefit of great production for the most part but he was a great lyricist.

Not pulling the race card maing. I'm white myself. There is a lot of fake white kids wanting to be gangbangers and it is fueled by gangsta rap, thats just a fact. But there are a lot of fake black guys wanting to be gangstas too who arent made for it.

But I like some gangsta rap too. Dre's Chronic album was great. Mobb Deep probably the best gangsta rappers I ever heard. At least their first 2 or 3 albums. The 1st bloods and crips album called Bangin on Wax was decent. I just disagree with you about Pac. But music is subjective to a certain extent. I just dont know any in the know hip hoppers who respect Pac. But if it does it for you then cool I respect that. We will agree to disagree and continue with your listening.

I'm all for peace in forumville

I have listened to rap music and have been involved in Hip-Hop for 15 years. I'm not hating or anything but I'm not feeling Tupac. I don't think he's garbage but I think he is for certain people. I don't feel I fit into that category. Just like don't feel much Southern Rap. I'm a early to mid 90's East coast Fan. What you know about OGC?

The last gangster rap classic was Dr. Dre's Chronic 2001.

I'm not hating or anything but I'm not feeling Tupac. I don't think he's garbage but I think he is for certain people. I don't feel I fit into that category. Just like don't feel much Southern Rap. I'm a early to mid 90's East coast Fan. What you know about OGC?
I'd say from about 1988 through about 1996 east coast rap is the best era of rap there ever will be. There wont ever be another era like that with that many heavyweights. Black Moon, Tribe, Organized, **, Mobb Deep, Keith Murray, Outkast, Killa Army, Das Efx, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. Then add some west coasters from that era like Freestyle Fellowship, Heiro, The Coup, etc, etc. I could build a list that fills up this forum but gotta run. I dig OGC and the whole boot camp click.
