this is all minor compared to if the conflict in Bahrain spreads inland to the eastern provinces of Saudi Arabia. If Saudi Arabia has the same protests as in Egypt and Libya I wouldn't be surprised to see $200 a barrel or higher

Japan produces very little oil and does not have any oil fired power stations. If anything the earthquake will see a small reduction in demand.

2012 will be the year peak output will be reached and then the oil reserves begin to diminish. Since we have high demand and supply can't keep up with high demand get used to gasoline prices in the $3.50 to $5.50 per gallon range in the near and distant future.

Reason I bumped it I was wrong too about oil reserves and under estimating human ingenuity. Between the advancements in extraction and more importantly, what they found Australia there will be plenty of energy for the growing world.
