Because we all need it no matter what. It could $200 a barrel and we'll still need it just as much if it was $50 a barrel.

My prediction 12 years ago when I was in my Junior year of high school that the way the Middle East and all the bullcrap is heading that Gas prices would eventually top over 1 dollar a liter in Canada and I was 100% right.

The old saying goes "what goes up must come down" well unfortunately its only going to keep going up and up and up.....

Along with the Middle East turmoil, it's global demand. We're fvcked here, because it's not going to matter how much Americans use with China and India's populations demanding more. Oil companies have us over a barrel and they know it.

I am so sick of the teacher policeman fireman argument. No one forces anyone into these jobs and pay is well above the median. Especially for teachers only working 9 months a yr in faiing school systems being held to no standards.

I blame this on greedy oil companies that will raid our pockets once again. It is going to get bad again and I am glad that we have PIHV coming out this year and demand for those will be huge.

It's not the oil companies, there is only a limited supply of oil and this is these fluctuations are the jagged peaks before the inevitable collapse. It's know that we've hit peak oil and still demand the prepackaged lifestyle that developed countries are into. Everything comes in plastic, every calorie of food takes 12 calories of energy, sprayed with oil based pesticides, planted and harvested with oil machines, shipped to food distributors in a diesel truck then shipped again to your local market. Do you really need Chilean Strawberries that bad in January?

2012 will be the year peak output will be reached and then the oil reserves begin to diminish. Since we have high demand and supply can't keep up with high demand get used to gasoline prices in the $3.50 to $5.50 per gallon range in the near and distant future.
