3 or 4k a year for a hobby that most people lose money in (not sure how they lose money tho tbh) isn't bad

My sentiments exactly. Sports betting is a losing proposition in the long term for the vast majority of people. If you derive pleasure from the wagering process and can also manage to come out a head whether it be by a lot or a little you are doing very well IMHO.
