maybe they can catch the Thrashers but the problem is the Sabres are playing better and have only played 53 games. Atlanta played 57 and NJ 56. IMO Buffalo can get the 8th place spot leaving the devils out.

Man are they playing well though! Should be an interesting last 25 or so games

I agree with k13 it would be a sick run, they have to start winning games in regulation time especially against teams they are chasing, can not give those teams the extra point.

not a Devils fan, but cashed in a little recently playing them...... they will come really close. Odds are adjusting now but hopefuly we can still make some money.

Devils needs roughly 40 points in 26 games (considering they'll need 88 to make it).

To get to that they'll need a 18-4-4 or so records to make it.
Not impossible but unlikely...

I was at the game tonight vs the rangers. Devils came out again and played well, controlling the action all game long. Im a fan of NJ and I can see this team rattling off more wins down the home stretch to make a serious push for the playoffs but I know it's gonna take some luck at this point...

The problem isn`t the 12 points they are back, it`s the 4 teams in front of them. If they were in 9th and 12 points back they`d have a remote chance of getting in. Being in 13th place and 12 back will make it next to impossible.

They'll need 90 points or so to make it, a record of around 18-4-2 till the end.
Every game they win is huge percentage wise. They need to win 75% of their games till the end to make it. They can do it, would be amazing.

It's highly unlikely, they would have to win like 18 of their final 24 games, the way they are playing though they could did it, I just don't think the teams in front of them are gonna choke.

The team with the 1/2 empty rink during their glory days???....... holding championship parades in their parking lot???..... The Devils deserve the slow painful demise they're experiencing...last years 1st round playoff exit...a mishmash team this year....and aging franchise goalie....couldn't happen to a better team.

Maybe they can clutch, grab and hold their way to a playoff berth...oh, thats right the NHL smartened up and changed the game to avoid the deep sleep team defensive game that made the devils great...maybe they could call Scott Steven out of retirement to provide cheap head shots to the opposing teams top players....oh, thats right the NHL outlawed that behavior too

The best part of watching this ultimate demise of the most lack-luster "championship winning" team ever....is that Marty Brodeur 's retirement will be the deathnail in the coffin of this joke of a franchise ... good riddence boys...to your team and your 9,000 faithful fans!!

I'm hoping the devils come 1...2 points short of a playoff berth....better yet...as one post stated, let them get the 8th seed and be ousted by the flyers AGAIN !!!

Too many teams in front of them to be able to catch #8. They would need huge losing streaks, their own continued winning streak and almost every single game between teams ahead of them to go right. I'm glad they're showing some life, but it's not going to be enough this season I dont think.
