Just have a look at the top winners at www.pokertableratings.com (cash game database) and you'll see their is a lot of "long term" winners.

On any given given day anybody can win or lose, it's all about the long run.
Way too many people playing now to make a living off it, that list from pokertables really is overated, smal percentage win and those that have good years give it right back and 5x more in future years

Rarely do you see poker player that has money and made it from poker not business or endorsements

I'll have to disagree again, if you are winner after 500k or a million hands at your limit then YOU BEAT THE GAME at that limit PERIOD. When the hands played sample size is big enough you can see if you beat the game or not.
Look at nanonoko stats, he's a machine. Many guys destroy the game, it's a minority i'll give to you but more guys beat poker then guys beat sports betting NO DOUBT about that.

Sports betting is very difficult to beat. Poker, however, is full of idiots at the table that you can beat.

Everybody suggesting books is wrong. I have over 100k in online poker winnings and to be successful as an upcoming player in today's games you need to become a member of Cardrunners or one of the other training sites. Books aren't able to keep up with today's evolving games.

True, Slansky and malmut books ain't good anymore. Tight agressive players are the suckers in todays games.
