Secriatariat is one of the best I have ever seen but I would tip my hat to Ruffian. There was just something about the way she ran. I was actually at Belmont for the match race in which Ruffian broke down. It was a terrible sight. I had my money on Ruffian and I saved the ticket but unfortunately through several moves I don't know where it is anymore.
Joe.

i think a lot of us are too sore to mention zenyatta after that letdown the jockey pitched us a couple months ago but that was definitely a rare talent.

I always say the best horse i saw was Jenna's Beach Boy.. the race he set the World Record in is the most amazing race ive seen... as for thoroughbreds id say Holy Bull, but i was up close and personal with Smarty Jones working at Philly Park

The Queen ZENYATTA!!!!!!
I went to the breeders cup back in November. I was sick when she lost that race by half a head. She was gaining down the stretch but just ran out of ground. I couldn't believe how far back she was the first time around. She's the best female horse ever.

To me, it is a photo finish. May be triple dead heat.

The photo sign is off. The official winner is the one in the black and denim silks.
Everytime I watch the video of Secretariat winning the Belmont I get the goose bumps.

If this is "horse you have seen in person" then i have to choose Nile Green. many years ago at Oaklawn park. Several of my buds and I took a day off from college. Went there with prob $20 total roll per person. Cost like $2 to get in and we split a program. So we decide we will pool $2 a piece for the daily double. We are debating back and forth what we should do and an old fart in front of us says, "debate abt the second race fellas, Nile Green will win the first race!" So we look and sure enuff Nile is favored in that race, but come on..... we took a vote and decided to follow the old fool's advice.
Picked 3 horses in the next race and put them with Nile. Long story shirt--Nile Green wins by like 20 lengths and we win like $50 for the daily double!! lolol You would have thought we had won 10k by the screaming we were doing.
After we calmed down, we thanked the saintly, handsome, knowledgable, distinguished looking gentleman for his advice. (and cheated off him looking over his shoulder the rest of the day)
