#4Hmmm with the halfway bum knee in a brace I am sure it would take me 15 minutes. Last time I timed it I was around 6:45Comment -

#7Never. Shin splints and hyper-extended knees are no fun.
Edited to add: on a nice track, I could run a mile...but I'd be going nice and slow since I haven't run in years.Comment -

#15Yeah, I do. Though treadmills have enough give for me to jog a little. I can rollerblade too. I'm just too beat up from gymnastics to deal with all the impact of running.Originally posted by Quebb Dieselstick to the ellipticalsComment -

#16I'm not sure about shin splints. They don't bother me unless I try running or sometimes after a particularly busy night at work.Originally posted by diogeeIs there surgery to fix those problems or do you just not want to go through it?
As for my knees? Well, I have to assume that the pain I have is due to some stretched ligaments or tendons. It may even be something with my ACL. I don't just "not want to go through with it"....I am petrified of knee surgery. They don't hurt bad enough often enough to make it worth it. I never really enjoyed running, so it doesn't break my heart that I can't have it in my workout routine.
Edited to add: I may not have been clear about my knee injuries. I hype-extended them back in high school and never let them heal correctly, so I kept re-injuring them. I haven't "injured" them lately...but they sure hurt like hell sometimes. I'll have a bad week, then no problems for a couple months.Comment -

#20Yeah I hear ya about being petrified of surgery but finally gave in and got my knee surgery since stairs absolutely kill them and I love going for 30 mile bike rides during the summer so I finally gave in. Honestly the knee I got worked on 2 months ago feels a lot better than the other one and is going to be worth it in the long run.Comment -

#23Yeah, I really should go in and get them checked out. I guess the pain just isn't bad enough yet to make me....which I know is stupid since they'll probably be easier to repair now than 10 years from now. Hell, I may even be able to help myself out a lot with a little physical therapy.Originally posted by diogeeYeah I hear ya about being petrified of surgery but finally gave in and got my knee surgery since stairs absolutely kill them and I love going for 30 mile bike rides during the summer so I finally gave in. #32No, I won't. I never mastered those. I sprained my back on a back tuck (just after I learned how to do them). I'm lucky to be walking...that's enough of those.Originally posted by Quebb Dieselyou wont break out a standing back tuck right now!Comment -

Thank you for your prompt reply, The Mo. I then will answer that I don't run miles, I stay right where I am.
