Also, these are probably the same people you see being arrested for leaving their dog chained up outside without food or water for days on end. After all, it is just an animal, right? Who cares if it suffers.

Dogs aren't family members. They are pets. You can buy a new pet and grow equally attached to it, but at the end of the day, it's still an animal. You made it sound like a relative was gravely ill or something.

To some people, dogs are family members and can't be so easily replaced as you suggest. I am one of those people. I would not suggest that you become like me, because people feel the way they feel about things and are unlikely to change. I would ask, though, that if you have comments that are both unconstructive and hurtful, that it would be the better part of valor to keep them to yourself.

Sorry, it can't not get to me right now. It's just over 24 hours since I watched my dog die. Crazyl is a piece of shIt. Period. I am pissed off that a creature as sweet as my dog had to go while Crazyl's sorry ass is still around. Should have been the other way around.
