My damn company just blocked SBR.com on our internet

I have heard that we have had some issues with associates looking at porn and gambling sites so they started monitoring internet usage. Because this has some gambling affiliation, i got a nice pop up today saying that this site is blocked and your usage is being tracked. It identified my ip address and user name. May expect to have my pink slip tomorrow! John, I may be looking for a job!! Got any openings???

these same executives go home and do the same thing only worse. people only work about half the time that they are there anyway. the suits must know that since they only work about 10pct of the time that they show up at the office and then try to hide from the entry level people.

Yup I hate how companies block websites. People should be able to do what they want while at work within reason as long as they are taking care of their business. If for whatever reason they aren't getting their work done and can't handle it then fire them. Don't make everyone suffer for a couple people's lack of control.

But I just use my phone to look at the forum.

Just use the Ixquick.com search engine and then use the proxy option to get to SBR.

You won't be able to log in and post though.

I think you can google free proxy servers. Should be one you could use.

go to proxy.org, pick any proxy, type the website URL you want to use (in this case www.sbrforum.com) then you are good to go

My work blocks sports, entertainment, and some news sites. I'm in collections, so we need the internet to locate borrowers sometimes, but some of the sites we can get info on them are blocked.

Employers almost always assume activity will lead to accomplishment. What they never understand is those that get shit done will get it done. Those that want to screw around will find another way to screw around.

As others have said, if you don't want to risk being caught using a proxy to work around your IT-god, just get a smart phone. You can make your wagers from the office from that as well.
