I'm a Lady Vols fan myself.
UCONN has set the bar higher now for womens basketball.
The other teams have to do a far better job of recruiting women who a capable of going on to play professional basketball if they want to be able to compete for a national championship.
Right now most teams recruit women who are only capable of playing college basketball.
UCONN recruits women that can play pro basketball. That's why they win by so many points.
Look at how many former players they have in the WNBA.
UCONN's streak should have ended when they played Baylor earlier in the year.Comment -

#42Great record for U Conn but no way to compare the two streaks. Back in the UCLA days, with the exception of the ACC which had a post season tourney, only the winner of each conference went to the tourney. Not as watered down as today.Comment -

We're getting a little crazy here. I hope people are just showing their chauvinist side now... they're two entirely different sports, but to say that some Friday night beer drinkers would even give a good ladies team a game is a joke. The Lady Vols team practices against college students... male college students that are pretty decent good players (and actually in good shape) and routinely beats them.
No, the UConn feat shouldn't be compared to UCLA... but, too, the bashing / bullshit throwing going on now is getting pretty deep. Need to hike up my boots...Comment -

#53you have to be joking the wnba all stars would beat no men's teams they wouldn't even be close i've seen d1 college girls play pickup hoop games and in 3 on 3 tourneys and they couldn't compete at all
Well... now we've swung the pendulum from one extreme to the other... first they'd beat MANY men's teams, now we can pickup 5 scrubs from the rec gym on Thursday night and they'd run a WNBA all star team out of the gym.

#54No way in hell are they equal. Uconn always recruit the best of the best for female thats why they are winning. UConn female basketball team can't even beat a division 3 men basketball team so to say they are equal to a division 1 men basketball team is crazy.Comment -

And, as for Lady Vols practicing against male students in practice it happens every day... and they beat them routinely. If that is what you're previous comment was in regards to.
A male basketball team and a 5 beer guzzlers that play Thursday night pickup games are ENTIRELY different things...Comment -

#57Would you be excited if, like I said before, the Iowa Barnstormers ripped off 88 consecutive wins in the Arena Football League? Or how about Nate Kmic? He is the all-time, all-division rushing leader in college football. He played for Mount Union. Or how about Mount Union themselves?!

your also probably the same guy who never played a minute of college/ sports....you'll never understand the hard work that goes into winning 1 game, let alone 88 in a row..
btw yes i would love to see a team in any sport rip off 80 plus wins in arowComment -

so your saying don't play unless your going to win a Heisman Trophy... haha i'll ask one better how it is being some one who could never put on a uniform at a college level, then trying to comment on something you know nothing about?

#62There's way too much shit-slinging in this thread. Guys, women's college basketball is still an organized fukking sport. Thousands of people are employed nationwide in recruiting, coaching, scouting, training, etc. To win 88 fukkin games in a row is seriously goddamned impressive! Stop being such sexist fukks!Comment -

#69It's not comparable to what UCLA did and Geno has said as much on multiple occasions, including tonight.
Guys, stop bashing the UConn women. They didn't do anything wrong.
The problem here is, once again, the media, and more specifically ESPN.
ESPN is a ratings whore and will make all kinds of dumb comparisons and statements if it means more people will tune in.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual
