The only time I'd watch womens basketball is if the uconn girls played a real WNBA team..i think uconn would win.....but actually i probably wouldn't watch it

I like to think I am not a sexist and I am completely disinterested in hearing anything about this streak for the same reason I don't care if the Iowa Barnstormers won 88 straight Arena Football League games.

I'm a Lady Vols fan myself.

UCONN has set the bar higher now for womens basketball.

The other teams have to do a far better job of recruiting women who a capable of going on to play professional basketball if they want to be able to compete for a national championship.

Right now most teams recruit women who are only capable of playing college basketball.

UCONN recruits women that can play pro basketball. That's why they win by so many points.

Look at how many former players they have in the WNBA.

UCONN's streak should have ended when they played Baylor earlier in the year.

Great record for U Conn but no way to compare the two streaks. Back in the UCLA days, with the exception of the ACC which had a post season tourney, only the winner of each conference went to the tourney. Not as watered down as today.

wow... does it even matter? bottom line, winning 88 straight games in any D1 sport is impressive. Let's wait for a men's team to win 88 before we start comparing it to UCLA.

Well... now we've swung the pendulum from one extreme to the other... first they'd beat MANY men's teams, now we can pickup 5 scrubs from the rec gym on Thursday night and they'd run a WNBA all star team out of the gym.

We're getting a little crazy here. I hope people are just showing their chauvinist side now... they're two entirely different sports, but to say that some Friday night beer drinkers would even give a good ladies team a game is a joke. The Lady Vols team practices against college students... male college students that are pretty decent good players (and actually in good shape) and routinely beats them.

No, the UConn feat shouldn't be compared to UCLA... but, too, the bashing / bullshit throwing going on now is getting pretty deep. Need to hike up my boots...

Would you be excited if, like I said before, the Iowa Barnstormers ripped off 88 consecutive wins in the Arena Football League? Or how about Nate Kmic? He is the all-time, all-division rushing leader in college football. He played for Mount Union. Or how about Mount Union themselves?!

I don't give a flying rat's ass about anything the Lady Huskies are doing because - in my mind - they are the Iowa Barnstormers, Kmic's, Mount Union's, MLS, New Mexico State football's, etc etc of basketball.

No way in hell are they equal. Uconn always recruit the best of the best for female thats why they are winning. UConn female basketball team can't even beat a division 3 men basketball team so to say they are equal to a division 1 men basketball team is crazy.

If you actually read all the responses you'd see that isn't what I said at all... I said previously that women's teams couldn't beat men's teams (as in an actual organized team)... but you're inclination was that 5 male pickup basketball players would be able to beat the WNBA all star team and I'm saying bullshit.

And, as for Lady Vols practicing against male students in practice it happens every day... and they beat them routinely. If that is what you're previous comment was in regards to.

A male basketball team and a 5 beer guzzlers that play Thursday night pickup games are ENTIRELY different things...

Well, I didn't play anything in college so I will have to defer to you for the experience. How was winning the Heisman Trophy? I always figured it to be a bit much and I think I would break down on stage. How'd that go for you?
well i actually did play college football for four years...

so your saying don't play unless your going to win a Heisman Trophy... haha i'll ask one better how it is being some one who could never put on a uniform at a college level, then trying to comment on something you know nothing about?

im done with clowns like you... have fun eating mac and cheese in your parents basement

I find it amusing that you are saying I can't comment on collegiate sports because I never played in college but seem free to make wild assumptions about where I am. I would question you further but I wouldn't want to aggravate you or the other 672 Parade All-Americans and Harlon Hill finalists that are on this forum.

There's way too much shit-slinging in this thread. Guys, women's college basketball is still an organized fukking sport. Thousands of people are employed nationwide in recruiting, coaching, scouting, training, etc. To win 88 fukkin games in a row is seriously goddamned impressive! Stop being such sexist fukks!

Again, my initial point was that this has nothing to do with the fact that they are women. If the Barnstormers or any other Arena Football League team were to rattle off 88 in a row and people started comparing it to an NFL achievement, I'd be saying the same thing.
