#38Yes... that sounds about right. I am peronally not really that interested in betting on the spreads. It's just wrong somehow.Originally posted by jjgoldI notice biggest volume is definitely money line bets compared to spreads
I guess Euro players like the ML
That, and the spreads are likely to change (sometimes several times) throughout the day and it will stop being very interesting for the non-traders to bet on it unless it is great value. The moneyline is much better for trading purposes as it is just one market, you won't have to jump on to different spreads as they change.... that is if betfair even puts up a market for the new spread.Comment -

#42I was always surprised that "spread betting" never seemed to take off in a big way ...
sportingindex.com has loads of examples .. I guess there is just too much risk involved.Comment -

#43the "spread betting" (or index betting) you are referring to is quite a different thing to what the Yanks mean by "spread betting"Originally posted by jwI was always surprised that "spread betting" never seemed to take off in a big way ...

In the UK that is referred to as line or handicap bettingComment -

#44Spread betting in the UK is fukkin massive and I mean massive
Sportingindex and Spreadex take lots and lots of action, it is a little different than live betting too where as you can close bets for loses and profits anytime during game with stop loses. It is similar to an American type bet called Action Points.
Example total TD shirt numbers for Auburn/SC game might be 233-239, all you do is add up the shirt number of anyone that scores a td on either team, you can buy or sell the shirts, if you buy at $1 @ 239 and the total shirts end up 269 you win $30 (30x $1)
It is dangerous but very exciting and you need a FSA license to do it and only legal in UK, Ireland and AussieComment -

#47Difficult to split the two as they both have good odds and a different range of markets. Would recommend both to be honest.Comment -

#50Is it really? I am not in the UK but I do place the odd spreadbet now and again. I think if you phone in to Bookmaker or any of the major offshore bookies you can spreadbet too. They call it "action points" or something I think. I think you can only do it on spreads and totals though and not all the fun markets like you can with sportingindex.Originally posted by jjgoldSpread betting in the UK is fukkin massive and I mean massiveComment -
