correct. it's on the "history channel" all these shows are meant to show/teach history. just like pawn stars the focal point of that show is when they bring in a guy who knows a ton on an item and explains all of its history

I watched the first few shows, but got bored with it. I did see a good episode recently where they were asked by William Shatner to help he and his wife find stuff for their ranch house.

They filmed that episode not far from where I live. I love watching the show. I like Pawn Stars better but could sit and watch either one all day as long as you throw a little man vs food in there somewhere.

From what I have seen, they usually come to some kind of an agreement. That is not being ripped off.
The guys are smart. They know how to make money by doing easy things. Not bad IMO.

That is how all these shows are though. Like my buddy told me when he went to the OCC in NY they didn't even have the shop to tour, it was just some bullshit room full of motorcycles. The pawn stars show too same thing, you go to the shop, nothing is for sale and all they sell is shirts and shit from the show. No one from the show is even there.

But if someone reimburses me for all my expenses and give me a salary on top to do it I can make a deal too and a living on top of it.

I think the real point is that there is stuff like that all over the united states. You just have to know where to find it, and to have a source to sell it to. A guy could make good money if he was really into it and was able to judge value of a wide variety of random objects.
