Grab a flash drive backup everything you need on the flash drive.

Then get your resource cd's that came with the computer and reinstall the operating system on the computer. Takes a total of about 40 minutes and your computer will run and appear the way it did the first day you bought it. IE no programs on it or nothing, brand new. I'd explain why you should do this once every 2 years and why your computer is freezing but i don't have the time, but i gave you the best solution.

Download ccleaner from ccleaner.com, and have it clean up your computer for you. It's a really good free program - highly recommended.

What he said, but try the ccleaner or easycleaner (which you can get on downloads.com, free) is good for deleting bad files too. But if neither of these work, than this. You might simply need more RAM too, which is cheap.

And only look at porn you pay for. The free sites will **** your shit up.

Windows has built in tools to help you clean up your PC and make it faster.

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and use "Disk Cleanup" after that run "Disk Defragmentation"

Then run do a scan for a virus with the many free available programs online, and lastly clean your registry with ccleaner like some guy above recommended.

Regardless of recovery method, please do not pay a company to "cleanyourpc.com"

Total scams and they piss me off to know end. I have reverse engineered their software and it is literally useless. Makes me so sad when I see people like my parents go out and buy that junk.

Your best bet is to completely reformat and reinstall your Operating System. You can do it yourself for free, all it takes is the CD.

There are many reasons at many levels.

My most recent cause was Adobe Flash Player.

If yours is an old version, it's a good start to update it.

some bugs will attack the "restore" also or can even hide and come back after restore is finished

many times it is just easier and better to reformat and install a fresh Windoz

                                                Yup

Since I'm known as the 'computer guy' amongst the family, and all of their friends, etc., people come to me all the time to fix their computers. I pretty much just take a can of compressed air with me, and a CD/DVD with glary, super anti spyware, malware bytes, ccleaner, and defraggler. I rarely have to do a system restore or an OS reload. Just clean their system, and educate them a bit on the dangers of installing the crappy free toolbars that plague the net, in order to install some new cursor or animated smilies for their msn messenger, etc.

at some of the responses here. i'd love to be the IT person in you guys town!

like was said earlier, if you have access to some compressed air crack that bitch open and hit it a couple times with the air. mainly the fans and around the heatsink.

then you need to download malwarebytes and install and run it.

another good free online program is http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

other then that, what kinda specs you got on it? or a rough year range would suffice too.
