Austin Collie 'Sitting Up And Is Alert' In Colts Locker Room, Says Bill Polian

Nov 07 6:16p by Andy Hutchins
Upon returning to the CBS broadcast in the second half, Jim Nantz informed viewers that Colts president Bill Polian told CBS that receiver Austin Collie is in the Colts locker room, is "sitting up and is alert," and is believed by Colts officials to have only a concussion.
That would be a best-case scenario after the big hit that Collie took in the second quarter of today's Eagles-Colts game; in the immediate wake of the hit, it appeared that Collie could have been paralyzed. (Watch video of the hit here.)
At halftime, CBS analyst Bill Cowher said that he spoke with the NFL office about Collie's hit. The NFL told Cowher that while Quintin Mikell's first hit on Collie was legal, the second hit by Kurt Coleman was a helmet-to-helmet hit that necessitated a penalty for unnecessary roughness.
Obviously, Collie's return for this game is out of the question. But it appears he will not require hospitalization.

a defensive player is prohibited from launching (spring forward and upward) into him in a way that causes the defensive player's helmet, facemask, shoulder, or forearm to forcibly strike the receiver's head or neck area -- even if the initial contact of the defender's helmet, facemask, shoulder or forearm is lower than the receiver's neck.

    Roll another one.
Please watch the :28 second mark of the provided video clip in post #32 this was clearly incidental contact of the helmet if any contact at all. All 4 commentators on the half time show disagreed with the call.

Honestly, Did you bet on the Colts? yes or no?

No I don't give a damn who wins or covers.

Your video angle sucks and you're wrong.

I wouldn't have thrown a flag either, but incidental contact is IRRELEVANT as the rule is stated, that is the point. Whether you, me, Cowher, "Prime-time", Oprah, or Snookie disagrees doesn't change the rule.

      Good day.

Me, Bill Cowher, Boomer Esiason, Sterling Sharp, Dan Marino, and the remaining 90% of SBR who did not bet on the Colts say bad call.

I guess you are just the only guy in the world who has a clue about the rules of the NFL

It was not a James Harrison hit, a Desean Jackson whack, or a Merriweather misdemeanor. A regular football hit, nothing more nothing less.

Is the above video conclusive enough? That, sir, is what's called helmet to helmet.

Not a bad call, it's a bad rule, that's what they said too and I agree.

Twist it however you like - perhaps you're the one with a bias here because I did not bet on the Colts am not a fan.

Commentator clearly states that he catches the ball makes 2 steps (a football move) and clarifies that the receiver is now a runner and concludes that once a runner helmet to helmet contact is ok.

The call will be the hot topic on ESPN all week not because it was a legit call

First you say it was a good call and now you have changed to it is a bad rule What is it? which argument are you going with?

Helmets making contact is greatly different than a defender leading with his helmet

                        Good luck with your Colts
