I know Profane and it looks like we will have to live with that again for the next two years of trying to repeal some of the things that has been done. I am sure that the GOP is going to get the house back by a small margin though. So if there is any reasonable ones that get in there then there will be stuff that will get done. We will just have to wait and see on that. I don't see the Senate going to the GOP though but they will get around 6 or 7 seats there. Like I have been telling people around here there will be some gridlock for the next two years but there is going to have to be some common ground here though.Comment -

Reagan inherited a mess in 1980, Obama inherited a mess in 2008.
The GOP had sweeping wins in 1980 on Obama's curtails------The Democrats had sweeping wins in 2008 on Obama's.
In the 1982 midterms---all the GOP Congressional wins---became losses. In the 2010 midterms----all of the Dem Congressional wins will become losses.
Reagan had to fight a horrific mid-term recession that just wasn't getting any better-----Obama is facing the same.

I am curious---do many of the young GOPers here on SBR remember that Ronald Reagan signed the largest increase in personal taxes into law at the time he signed it in 1982......it was called TEFRA---or the Tax Equity and Financial Responsibility Act of 1982---and it was the single largest increase in personal taxes in US History.

Martin, Obama wants to raise taxes, by allowing the Bush tax cuts to run out. That amounts to a tax raise. The good news is that he is not going to be able to do it. He is also going to be forced to spend less. Now if (and until the election is over, this is still an IF) the Republicans win the House, and make big gains in the Senate, Obama will have two choices. Either he takes a hard core line, and tries to blame the Republicans in the House for all of his failures, or he can pull a Bill Clinton, turn hard right (for him) and try to find the middle ground. For the sake of the country, I hope he chooses the latter.Comment -
