Okay, I'll be the first idiot in this thread...

I don't even get it. I've never seen ANYONE'S avatar be animated.

Is this referring to animated gifs that people sometimes ADD inside threads to be funny? Like I think maybe First and Ten, or Shortstop? I like those.

I always think of our AVATARS as our pictures on the left. And NEVER seen an animated one of those.

Someone please elucidate for me. Thanks.

You used to be able to use what I posted as an avatar. Then everyone started using them and I think it slowed down the forum; that was before they did the upgrades with the new servers. If you go to EOG they use the moving avatars there so you can see what it looks like.

That's the only place avatars are used, under your name. That's what an avatar is.
