The ratings will be down if it's Texas vs. San Fran, no doubt. But there will also be a 350% decrease in douschey Yankees and Phillies fans strutting around in early November. So it evens out.

This is a great story. First time Texas Rangers make the world series. How do you go wrong with that! Go Rangers!

It always pisses me off that there is no Sunday Night NFL game during the world series. They could put the 1976 Tampa Bay against the 2008 Detroit Lions and that game would have 100 times more people watching than the world series.

you boys are not going to like what i am about to say, but it's true. Nicky Santoro only speaks the truth..

the only thing that can be worse than a SF vs Tex W.S is.......... Pirates vs Royals in the world series.

i am not kidding.. go ahead now and hammer me, but remember, it's the truth.

Right...that makes sense, you only have one state, where as if the Giants and Rangers meet will be two states.

So your wrong about that 2002 WS being the lowest rated ever.

How can you compare the Pirates and Royals to the Giants and Rangers.

Do you not have a good memory?

What was so special about the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros in 2005 or the St. Louis Cardinals and Detriot Tigers in 2006.

As a huge baseball fan, I've really been enjoying the pitching matchups of phils/giants and the high scoring offenses of yanks/rangers. I look forward to the most likely WS matchup between giants/rangers , can SF's pitching can hold off the big bats of texas? Saying all that... I have many friends that are just casual fans, and most can't name more than 5 players between the rangers and the giants. All of them can name at least 5 players on the yankees and phillies. This series will be a great one, but the casual fans are not going to care to watch it.

Inty, i feel the same. no one hates Bud more than myself at sbr.. i can assure you that. he took my beloved expos out of montreal. i loved my spos.. i grew up with them and he wanted them out and he didnt' give us a chance to build a downtown ballpark. he hated seeing a team here and his goal was to get us out. if it wasn't for him, we might still be here in a new downtown stadium. baseball would've worked in a new downtown ballpark, but this prick wanted nothing to do with this city.

he is the most hated man in montreal. If i see him on the street, i might sucker punch him.

who cares? Be great if the yanks and philly is out, tired of seeing them. Two annoying fan bases. Everyone was already giving the world series to Philly, **** them and **** the ratings.

But I see some kind of comeback since I have Rangers futures just screw me somehow as always. :\

Dallas is a good media market, but at least the Angels and the Dodgers bring in LA. Northern California isn't that large, and lets face it: baseball is an east-coast game, and nobody in the northeast corridor is going to watch this game. Then you factor in the built-in disadvantage the World Series has because its during the football season. Heck it wouldn't shock me to see more ppl watch the 1-4 Cowboys and the 1-5 Niners than this baseball series.

Although to be fair, in 2006, I skipped the Michigan/Michigan State game to watch the Tigers eliminate the Yankees from the ALDS.

A real fan won't care, and remember these 'ratings' are nothing but making an assumption from a small sample size. Granted, if the Yankees are not in it -- or the Cubs, Dodgers, etc from the larger markets -- their fans are less likely to be interested in the games.

At the same time, this will be a huge deal in the D-FW metroplex if the Rangers make it, especially with the way their Cowboys have sucked this season. The good news for viewers that do not live in the ET time zone is that FOX will still gear start times for the East Coast audience that, according to Nicky, won't show up. So we're looking at 7-7:30 p.m. start times in Central meaning to watch the entire game won't require staying up until the late, late hours of the evening.
