Best Pizza: NY vs. Chicago?

I live on the west coast, and I will tell you my story. I have been both to NY and chicago. In Chicago, I have had the best pizza of my life but I have also had one of the worst pizzas of my life, and I was only there for one weekend.

I have also been to NY a few times and I have to say that their pizza is just average.

So I ask you, who has the best pizza? Chicago or NY? Or... some place else? I will make my vote also. My vote will go to Chicago because of the one fine place that I had that 3 cheese pizza that was so good. I only wish I knew the name of the place, I can not remember. Pretty sure it was a hole in the all, but G'damn it was so good. I never thought I could enjoy a pizza with only cheese and no other toppings until I tried that pizza. And to top it off, I was there during the MLB playoffs a few years back, it was a great atmosphere. I am usually a "The works" kinda guy until I tried that one.

So... What say u guys? Who has the best pizza?

i had a pizza that had only red sauce and very little cheese on it. Was like a 7inch pizza. This was in Rome, Italy. Very simple, only 1 dollar, and probably the best pizza ever. I went there almost every day

Go to Lou Malnotis, Pizzaria Due (on Wasbash) or the Original Gino's east and tell me what you think. I like the NY stuff as a snack, just as a slice, but if you want a fukkin meal, there is no comparison.

and the Chicago Pizza heats up the next day, to me, even better than when you first ordered it.

Also, Papa Del's in Champaign is one of the finest pie's in the world, its Chicago style deep dish

It depends what you're going for, I like both. There's a little pizzeria here that makes GREAT New York pizza, and I like thin crust if done right. But sometimes Im in the mood for Chicago style. New York is more like a snack, Chicago is a fukin meal.

Best Pizza I've ever eaten was New York style at a little place in Raleigh, NC called Sylvios I think. The guy who owns it is a New York Italian 2nd generation. His brother owns one in Charlottesville, VA. Both are excellent New York Pizza if you're ever in town

Although I'm not a fan of most NYC pizza, I would recommend Adrienne's in the financial district (just get the old-fashioned pizza with a couple toppings). A nice perk is that Adrienne's seems to always have seating available; my guess is all the college kids/tourists/hipsters don't venture downtown very often (but they do create 30-45 min lines at Grimaldi's and John's).
