Cashed out part of my 401K and paid the house off.

No kids, No car payment, No mortgage payment.

Only need to make 15K/yr to get buy and that is easily done playing poker and sports betting.

I live the same life style I did when I was working. Only difference is I'm not sticking 1000/mo in my 401K. Makes no sense to work your whole life and end up dead with 600K in the bank. It is best to go out the way you came in with zippo.

A house without mortgage still has expenses. For a $200,000 house you are looking at $3,000 a year property taxes, $1000 a year home insurance, $1500 per year utility bills, maintainance, lawn care, etc.

15k will only be enough for food and clothing.

To each his on- sounds great not to have to work but if you have work for many years it is not as easy as it may seem to just stop with nothing to do most people I know that have retired young say in ther early 50's if they had no serious hobby's or sometime to do with there time all seem to die young!!! I guess what Im tring to say is being active even after retirement is healty being avtive your whole life and then just laying around doing nothing cant be good for you !! jmo

I just felt I was at a point where working was not worth it anymore. I was at a point where I had enough money to get by for a very long time. Decided to take a chance and try something different. Worked 23 straight years and about 2/3rd of that time I worked two jobs.
