Just started the habit of reading novels again.

Since most movies and TV shows suck these days, a good novel is a treat.

Which authors are worth checking out, I have read all the books from Grisham, Baldacci, and lately from Steig Larsson

Can't help ya with the reading, Biggamer -- the internet replaced that hobby.

I'll try to get you away from lawyers. Stephen King is always good. Don't go by his movies, The books are always butchered. Have patience, they take awhile to get going. Ludlam's books as good as the movies. John Sandford. James Patterson for quick reads. His newer books, he does the outline, somebody else writes it. If you see another author under his name, thats the reason. If you like horse racing, try Dick Francis. Think he's deceased, so no new books. All take place at the track, short books, quick reading. Hope you find some books you like.

Never read Cuckoo's but that is my favorite movie probably ever.

Still worth a read if i know the movie in and out?

Thanks, have read a few Pattersons like his stuff but all his books are the same formula with new villains really.

Ludlam's movies were sick so i would venture his books are rock solid.

Also forgot to mention I love Jeffery Archer, maybe the greatest storyteller ever.

Kane and Abel is a MUST read if you want to read an awesome novel

not sure what you like, but.

If you like kitschy horror Bentley Little books are fun reads.

If you like the Spy/super hero style novels: Steve Berry writes history oriented ones, and James Rollins science-y ones.

If you like Historical fiction Bernard Cornwells Saxon Stories are good.

if you like classics and have only seen the disney-fied version read The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

                                  I would say yes.

The book is significantly better than the movie (a little different too), and the movie won Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, and Adapted Screenplay and is #20 on AFI's top 100 list all-time, so..

Yeah, Chief is narrator in the book, which is brilliant. And if you thought Jack and the Nurse's characters were good in the film, they are seriously 10x better in the book.

I saw the movie like a year before I read the book (and liked it a lot) but I don't think it really took anything away from the book.

The best novel I've read in a long, long time is The Road by Cormac McCarthy. This is the same guy who wrote No Country for Old Men. The books are both better than the movies (of whichIi both thoroughly enjoyed.). The Road is far and away my personal favorite. Its kind of a deep story, but an easy read. I've yet to talk with anyone who read it that hasn't enjoyed it.

Have you read anything from Chuck Klosterman? Downtown Owl (novel) is good & I'm reading Eating the Dinosaur (essays) now....

Great book, one of my all time favorites. Even better because it's a true story.
I want to read Senor Nice eventually. Howard Marks was the man!

I read a lot. This one is not a novel but if you even remotely think you might enjoy the subject matter then you'll love it. I couldn't put it down.

Sweet Thunder The Life and Times of Sugar Ray Robinson by Will Haygood.

Puts you right into the Harlem Renaissance. Interweaves the boxing story with modern jazz especially Miles Davis. You find out that a young Charley Rangel would escort showgirls from the Apollo to Sugar Rays club in Harlem. Really a good read. Has the Jones seal of approval.
