Anyone going to see the Secretariat movie this weekend?
I liked Seabiscuit a lot - wonder how this one will stack up.

i haven't been to a movie since jaws.not likely to see secretariat movie either.a funny story follows; i and two buddies actually attended the Belmont stakes which secretariat won by 22 lengths.my friend dave, camera in hand, quickly rushed to the winners circle to snap a few pictures.fighting his way through the massive crowd of fans in doing so,with marginal success.when he rejoined us,we decided to go to grassy park in the rear of the belmont grounds where we saw the exit path from the track to the stables. lo and behold, here comes secretariat and her connections strolling by.there was nobody at the fence,by the path except us 3 and 4 more people. dave was all set to get his pictures, when, you guessed it,he had no film left.goes to show you,yet another way to lose at the track.

I've been betting horses for 40 years, I've seen great horse stories, yes Secretariat was a great horse, but he met inferior fields in his day. How about my favorite Kelso, He was 5-time horse of the year in the 50's won 63 races and made almost $2 million in his life. Incredible in his day. You'll never see a grade 1 thoroughbred win 63 races ever.

I'm sure one on Zenyatta will be coming eventually - could be one of the best ones.

I think that's why the release date is now. Breeders Cup in a few weeks and she is still unbeaten, baseball playoffs and football is in full gear. Every couch potato sports nut is gearing down near the TV for hours at a time. These fu(king movie companies don't miss a beat when it comes to marketing.

he had 1 good race against a weak field. few other decent races. buckpasser was better, kelso was 5 time horse of the year in a row. zenyatta currently better story. movie will be full of things that never happened. stay away.

Dude, you have no idea what you are talking about.
You know it, and I definitely know it.
Tell that to someone that was not there.
I was.

Not interested. While Secretariat was before my time, I can't get hyped up about a horse with 5 losses as best ever. I kind of agree with Prairieswheel and unusualsusp5 assessment about Secretariat looking at the history books. While there's horseplayers that know more than I do, Secretariat seems more on par with Holy Bull. Great horses, but not best ever types. A healthy Tiznow was probably as good as either one.
I agree with Reload, a movie about Zenyatta, that's different!
