How much do you tip a casino slot attendant?
Was wondering how much you tip a slot attendant when you hit a jackpot? I was at the casino last night with my girl when I popped 3k on a machine. The slot girl goes and gets my money and before she comes back with it my girl is telling me I should give her $100 bucks. I said "no fukin way" and told the misses I was gonna throw her $20. Next thing you know my girl is telling me I shoudn't be cheap and were having a small argument after hitting this nice jackpot. What do you think the proper tip should have been?

toss the slot attendant whatever you feel like 20-50..then toss your g/f out on her ass...she shouldn't be telling you what to tip the lady.

I don't play slots very often but $50 seems like it would be fair in this situation. If you were feeling generous you could leave the $100.

Why are slot attendants even needed for large payoffs anymore ? I could see in the old days if you hit a Royal Flush for $1,000 .....carrying 4,000 quarters would cumbersome or the hopper might not have it. Now it can just print a voucher.

I'd think in a large casino $1,000 and up jackpots would hit several times an hour. Does this attendant collect like fifteen+ $50+ Tips per shift ? If so, sweet job !

The position doesn't even need to exist.

$20 is fine on 3k hit. i probably would have thrown them a c-note, but that's just me.

the slot attendants make anywhere from $10-$20/hr depending on casino and time in position. tips are pooled and taxed. it's a bonus for them, but many take them as a given. some players tip more and some don't tip at all. a good attendant should/will treat all players the same, but most will go above and beyond for a generous player. say you have a problem with a machine that you think didn't credit you for a bill you think you inserted or a vp hand where you didn't hold the correct cards and it cost you a payout. the attendant's manager may swing the decision in your favor because you take care of his/her employees. they may also tell you tough titties if you are a stiff as long as the machine was functioning properly and the error is your fault or can't be determined.

                congrats on the w too.

Good points Doug. I don't feel bad about only tipping 20bucks.

It does not matter what you gave her, the fact that you did give her something was the correct gesture. A gratuity is just that thanks for whatever you do or didn't do. Its your way of saying Thanks!

$20. If she also brought you a beer then $25. And if she is hot, $37.

I hit a jackpot for 4k last year!

slot attendant took 20 minutes to come to me, I didn't give him shit but a bad look! Mother fukkers making me sit there!

I don't see why they get tipped! They have nothing to do with you winning!

Most people give them nothing. I have seen people win $12,500 and not give a thing. Why should you tip a slot attendant more than someone who is serving you drinks?

DO you tip the casino cage worker when you are cashing in $2000 worth of chips for cash? Well of course you dont, so why tip a slot attendant?

F, I once won a sizeable jackpot and gave them $150. There have been times after I wish I had $150 to my name. I gave them about .5 % of what I won.

I can guarantee you that giving away ANY PROFIT from a jackpot will hurt you longterm. It is hard enough to make a profit playing the $5 slots, and now you want to tip someone lady who brings you what YOU WON? No need to give a dollar

Thanks for all the input. I lose my ass at this casino 80% of the time I go there. Maybe higher. So after thinking about it for a while $20.00 bucks was good enough. Doug raises a good point about why are slot attendants even around? So they can make sure your ass gets taxed when you win. That's why. She actually was there to make sure I had my needed info (Social Security card, D.L.) in order to pay me my money. And we tip these attendants for this service?

I hit a grand on a Wheel of Fortune machine and I gave the lady $20....what the heck it makes her day and they don't make that much money being an attendant.

The best tip you got above was getting rid of the "partner" who wanted to tell you what to do with your money. This will be +EV advice for the rest of your life.
