#42John,
I was 245 in July and am 183 today. Size 44 pants to size 33 regular fit jeans. Loving the new me. I have one cheat day a week too.
Here's how I did it. Lift heavy (whatever that means for you) Monday, Wed, and Fri, focusing on Squats, benchpress, deadlifts, barbel rows, overhead presses and chinups/pullups. Phuck curls -- they're a waste of time. I did these with a 5x5 set/rep scheme. Do sprints, Tues and Thursd. Jog on Saturday. Sunday off.
Track your claories. Eat below maintenance. Multipy your bodyweight x 12 to get your total allowed calories per day and eat accordingly, adjusting downward as you go.
See a doc first to make sure this is cool for you but it worked really well for me.Comment -

High intensity Interval training (HIIT).
You won't burn fat while you're doing the sprints, because fat can't be turned into energy that fast, but you'll be burning fat for the next 24 or so hours.
Sprint 6 seconds, jog 10. Do this for 15 minutes every other day, and you will be burning exponentially more fat that someone who does 45 minutes of light running 5 days a week.Comment -

I started my wife on a diet - exercise program 11 weeks ago. She was 172.5, currently her weight is 154. A loss of 18.5 pounds and her percent of body fat has dropped from 44% to 39%. Her goal is 105 by Christmas. Oh, by-the-way, she is 5' 0"Comment -

#56Nice thread
Why is everyone on this board so ****ing huge? Dudes are like 6'2 225 on average. what the **** did your parents feed you? I wish I had that kind of frame to work with.
5'10 195 33 in waist depending on who's measuring
Trying to get "down" to 180-185 area. Have weighed as much as 235 and as little as 180 in the past couple of years. I usually forget about my weight until I can't tie my shoes without straining. WHich happened to me about a month ago and I find out I weigh 210.
I've tried alot of diets and here's whats worked for me over the years.
1. Total body weight exercises. These are the ones where your whole body shakes when your trying to do the last couple of reps. Someone said curls were a waste but I say not if your standing in the middle of a room and going to failure.
2. High reps. **** low reps if you're fat, they won't help you burn fat. They don't tear up enough muscle to have the effect that higher reps will.
3. stuff myself with high protein food(chicken, tuna, sometimes burgers) around 12 pm. This is after stuffing myself with fruit first thing in the morning. You won't be able to think about food or alcohol for that matter without feeling queazy for the rest of the day.
4. Sprinting definitely works but I say save that for late in your diet because you won't be able to get as much out of it if your too heavy to move fast. Basically if tying your shoes sucks just keep doing those dead lifts and squats until it doesn't anymore. Not only will you have a better workout but this will introduce a new strain on your body that can prevent plateuing.Comment -

Anyway, I have been trying despite those fvckers at RuthCris. I was 204.4 when I started this thread and 200.8 today. Just had too many bad days.and got an icecream cone called stairway to heaven at the hardrock hotel in orlando. it is soooo good. Yesterday for some odd reason I decided to meet my wife for lunch and walked there which was a little bit over 4 miles. I also do sprints and lifting and 2 days ago started a 10 day dexatrim max trial to see how it goes. I gained 8 pounds on easter
but lost 9 since then and another 1/2 inch off the waist. Will update on April 1st with the newest stats. My goal is 218 in 5 days which is 6 pounds. It may be too much to get.
On a side note I am having a horrible time losing stomach fat and especially that fat that hangs on your side. It is pissing me off to no end. Anyone know of a really kickass exercise to take it off. thanksComment -

Starting waist: 48 in

Only lost 2 lbs but I have to consider that I am lifting anywhere from 30-60 minutes 5 times a week, I lost another 1.5 inches from my waist, and my wife says I am starting to show muscles and believe me she would not say it if it were not true as she loves to call me a hipposcottamus and always wants to rub buddhas tummyComment -

#65Back up to 223 lbs and 38 in waist. Not eating junk so it is probably water weight as I am drinking alot of water and upping the lifting. However, those last 23 lbs are not going without a fight so today I started phase 1 of the south beach diet which lasts 2 weeks and is brutal. I will let you guys know how it works with an update next monday and then the monday after that. Bring on the pain baby.

I am coming off a cycle of creatine so hopefully that water bulge will go away. I have some extra strength diet pills coming in the next few days so I will let you know of the results and the product if it works. I measured my arms around a month ago and they came in at 15 inches. I measured yesterday and they have grown an inch to 16 inches so I am feeling pretty pumped up about that. I have not seen much in the way of chest development but still have most of my fat on my frontside. My left trap has a large bulge now but the right trap has nothing(arrghhh). I am seeing a little muscle development in the back but nothing big. Of course, I have only been lifting for like 6 weeks and only heavier for maybe 2-3 weeks tops so I understand it will take time. My wife has been giving me a few compliments which she hates doing so something must be working. Will update again in 2 weeks. I am hoping to lose 5 pounds in that time if my diet pills make it here in time.Comment -

#69I also need to lose some weight... I was in the military about 3 years ago and I'm 5'11" and a half, and weighed 185 pounds when I got out... Last time I weighed myself, about a month ago, I was at 225...(I broke the scale about month ago when I stepped on the plastic face when I got out of the shower... although I don't think my wife believes this...
) I've cut out all fast food from my diet and lost some weight but I still need to lose some more...
I've also told my wife that I would quit smoking in a few weeks (she is getting a new job and wants to be around me as little as possible during this period and told me I can't start till she starts work again...) I smoke like a pack and half a day (for like 10 years now...) so I think this more important then a losing weight right now... honestly, I think if I did both at the same time I would need to be on suicide watch...Comment -
