Post limit to post in players talk. When football season comes back, morning threads will be on the 3rd or 4th page by 7 PM. sometimes they r full with just one word answers by new people trying to get post count up. Still let them view the forum for insight, but put like a 1k posts minimum or something and it will be less hectic in there. Just an idea anyway.

The main thing we need is to COMBINE threads more often. Sometimes you can't help it if you create a thread already mentioned. Hell I did it for the poker in game thread. These could easily just be combined. I don't want to see 6 Brett Favre threads or 10 BTP threads when we already have a thread for each.

The poster has a great point about great topics falling to page 3 in a flash...although I guess if they are really good they wouldnt fall. ?? Could be over thinking things here.

SBR has grown the way it has because no over managing of forum. Some of ideas here will hurt the board not help it. If 2 guys fight all day in a 399 post thread it's good. I want fukkin numbers or Walker will have my ass.

Totally agree. I enjoy the 5 page threads where 2 guys go at each other. Also the threads where one person has 90% of the posts in it in 5 word sentences. These are the threads that make PT unique.

Well i meant not even able to post until the said 1k post mark was hit. But you prob up a good point- if its a good thread then why would it fall?

I generally read alot of the threads put up, and during football week you go to go 3 pages to find some from that day. Its just kind of annoying i guess, and some of the threads are some wanna-be jjgolds with 300 posts starting threads about their "locks of the day" and end up 1-5. It just takes up space.

No it was not you, actually I don't think I have ever read any of you post. Its going on in the baseball forum for the past couple of months. A few posters posting outrageous bets and made up records. I know its bullcrap and many others do too. My concern is for the people that don't spend as much time on here to know the truth. They see these Mega bets and fake records and bet on these loser picks. It hurts the casual sbr member when people treat the forums like a joke.

Yes the mods should be more present in the forum and send the bullcrap to the private zone. If the same posters repeatedly have threads sent to the private zone. Then ban the poster to the private zone.

I'm just thinking as I post here but maybe every thread posting a pick about a certain game whether it's a ML, total, 1H/2H, etc - merged into one game-specific thread?

The majority of the stayers on here have their own threads where people know to find them every day. Seeing 'GOY Yankees', 'Biggest Lock Eva Yankeez RL', 'Yankees Under 9' threads started by 10 different people gets to be too much. Yes, we get it. 52 people like the Yankees somehow today. Especially considering the same people seem to bounce from each of those threads repeating their plays as they're obviously the ones highly interested in that specific game.

And this is where Mod discretion would come into it. Obviously if you saw a 'Paperclip Play of the Year' from a regular then maybe that could be shipped to PT and treated differently than numerous threads with one reply clogging the sports forums. Does this sound too bitchy of me? Sorry if it does.

This is a great point. I know I've been guilty of this before (most recently I started a new thread about the debacle at the end of the PGA Championship when another had already been created). I look to see if there's a thread about the subject before I create a new one, but sometimes I miss it or multiple threads get started at the same time when something happens. I imagine many don't even look before starting a new thread. Combining threads would keep more of the threads we want on page 1.

The only thing i dnt like about merging threads is that it makes the threads too long.

Now if u merge 2 threads, u'll probably get the same exact guy saying the same thing twice now(since the merge, u take all the posts and such). With that said, its probably still the right thing to do. But i don't want to read through 40 posts to read the same thing over and over especially when the people don't know what their talking about.

There needs to be a middle ground between Player's Talk and Private Zone. It should be an Off-Topic/General discussion thread. Player's Talk should be, at the very least, related to sports. Threads like these don't belong there, but aren't inappropriate enough to be banished to the Private Zone:

If you have been here for less than a year then you only get 3 posts a day in PT.

Me personally I'll probably go back to hiding in the sub forums. The level of stupidity that goes through PT frustrates me. I'm a quality over quantity type of person though and I understand how it helps your bottom line.

my point exactly too many dumasses in the PT weighing in on a game they did absolutely no research on or anything.

Also, if its not sports related, it shouldnt be in players talk.

Three items:

1. Lou does need a raise. The place would free fall without his administrative genius.

2. Limit who has the ability to offer 'special lines' on games. It is great when you or Lou, or someone else SBR affiliated offers a 'special line', but there are too many guys taking shots now with no ability or intent to pay. Or, there should be a special line interface, almost matchbook like, where a poster can offer a special line with put in points equity, then have other posters buy the offer. Eliminates the confusion and frustration of what is a 'special line offer' vs. 'i'm a clown who is making a desperate attempt at gathering some points."

3. There should be a refresher course/beginners tutorial on all of the ins and outs of contests, handicapping tools like SBR odds, forum decor, signing up with new books warnings/process, etc....... The Newbie section was good first step, now we need almost a chapter by chapter guide.

Otherwise, you guys are doing a great job.

Have a Sports Players Talk: All generally speaking sports related topics are discussed there. Any non-sports related moves out.

Have a Water Cooler Players Talk: Any topic goes there except those deemed for Private Zone. You can't get it up and want advice? Start a thread there. You saw a nice phone and want some advice? Post there. Your boss is a jack ass? Post there to discuss. You get the idea.

I think that only established posters or Mods should put out a special line. I know people have already been screwed by someone doing it. With new people coming along you can assure it will happen more. I like the idea of a special line but only people that will pay.

NEW users get points between 30-300 posts (because I know that is what keeps people coming and such). Then between 300-400 you receive less points per day, or none. This keeps people who WANT to be here and WANT to contribute here for a longer time. There is no way to keep people from posting just for #'s but I feel this could help.
