Just by calling it a "Lock", the win expectation went down 20%. No better way to jinx yourself than to say it's a lock.

If you would take the +1, why not just take the moneyline?

I bet less than 1% of games with a line of 1 actually land on a 1 point differential in final score.

What if the game goes to OT--or multiple OTs? This is why I hate betting BB Totals, overtime kills the good Under handicapper.

Presumably you've played or watched Texas Hold'em at least once (and if not it should be easy enough to figure out) so here is an example. You get all in preflop with JJ against AA. You are about 20% to win in this situation. Now let's say you hit a ten and win the hand. You say "I won so it must have been right". That right there is results-oriented thinking, which will cost you a lot of money over time.

that is all fine for you, but a win is a win. I have won 58% of my NBA plays this year. That is solid, you are trying to bash me because I won a close one, so what who cares I won just as much money as if the hawks would have won by 80.

You are overthinking things, I use to get caught into that crunching down numbers and shit, just keep it real when you bet. Just watch as many games as you can and you will know who to bet majority of the time.
